Carrie writes, "We picked up the side table at a consignment shop for about $10, had an old faucet on hand, and picked up the rest at the local home-supply shop. It was great fun!" Inspired by this tutorial over at Out of the Crayon Box, Carrie shows us that our readers really are a DIY force to be reckoned with.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Wow! I'm so inspired by this...it would be a fun project to work on with the kid, too.
I LOVE! I LOVE!
That is so creative! I don't think I would have looked at the side table and thought play kitchen, but it works so well! Create job!
I know where I can get a side table exactly like that. Did you take pictures of the process? It is so lovely and I would love to do something like this for my daughter.
Hi! Carrie here! Thanks for the play kitchen love. We did document the process. If you'd like to see the Picasa album, email me at carriejo at gmail dot com, and I'll happily send you the link to the album. It was great fun, and since we were starting from a side table instead of from scratch, it progressed really quickly. The only surprise was how many coats of primer and paint it took to get a nice finish; the laminate coating on the tabletop was really persistent at showing through. But we persevered!
LOVE this! Incredible... really gets my imagination going, too. Let's see... what could I transform for my kids...
Great job! I'd love to do this for my little guy :-)
