Yesterday's post about cartoon inspiration prompted reader abbygraykit to comment about the breezy, modern style of Charlie and Lola, a BBC television series based on the books by Lauren Child. You are so right, abbygraykit. That show happens to be, as Lola would say, "my favorite and my best". So at the risk of sounding like total tv-addicted couch potatoes, let's see what we can pull together!

Charlie and Lola share a bedroom and each has a white, single bed. Charlie's has adorable horse decals, which remind us of Ann Wood's DIY Cardboard Horse Stampede. And the bedding? It looks exactly like this red poppy fabric we found! Add an inexpensive paper lantern, and you're well on the way to this fictional and fresh Scandinavian-inspired decor.

Ann Wood's DIY Cardboard Horse Stampede
Hanging Striped Paper Lantern, ($3.68)
Tossed Poppies in Red fabric, ($8 per yard)
Catalina Twin Bed in white ($399 on sale)
