We can't decide what we love more about this collection of art featured on Flickr by user iri5: the fact that these are brilliant portraits of celebrities crafted entirely out of lines of tape and film from discarded cassette tapes and film reels, or that the entire collection of mostly deceased icon portraits is called "Ghost in the Machine." See more of this series, including portraits of Jimi Hendrix, Marilyn Monroe and Jim Morrison, after the jump...

One look at IRI5's online portfolio shows that she thinks and creates in graphic ways. Many of her artwork is—literally, not computer shortcut terms—cut and pasted from pictures and paintings.

No surprise, then, that she's such a whiz with the cassette tape. What you see was made with no paint and no Photoshop, just a good old fashioned eye for creative tech art.
