Q: I have been coveting the beautiful Tavolo Con Ruote table for several years. It's far out of my reach price wise and after failing to find something similar for under $700, and living with a huge empty space in my living room, I've finally decided this may be something I can DIY with some help.
Acquiring the glass is easy, but it's those huge industrial casters I'm having a hard job locating. Please help. I think what I'm after is 8" tall threaded stem casters. I've found many 5" ones and a few 6" ones but I really want larger ones, 8" or larger. Can anyone help please? Thanks!

Shaw's Original Fir...
Hi. Look on Amazon. They have 8" and 10" heavy duty casters for about $30 each. You might be able to take the wheels off and use a rubber dip to coat the metal part. Good luck.

Lee Valley (Canada) has a good assortment of casters and many other wonderful bits of hardware, etc by mailorder
HomeDepot and Lowes carry a wide assortment of caster wheels:

I know you're looking to diy, but I just wanted to check that you've already ruled out cb2's yield coffee table. It's a little smaller and not the same aesthetically, but the idea is similar...
That yield coffee table is a fright!
Thanks everyone! I had considered the cb2 coffee table but it's a bit too small and I really wanted some big chunky back wheels. I think I found what I'm looking for at McMaster Carr for about $35 a pop!
McMaster-Carr has a huge selection, you'll get it next day, and their team is helpful in picking products.

I have bought a lot of casters from Grizzly Hardware. In general, they are reasonably good quality, but they don't have an 8 inch threaded stem caster. Grizzly Link
McMaster Carr has a tremendous selection of hardware. They have an 8 inch threaded caster: McMaster Link
Castercity also has some threaded 8 inch casters:

A final thought is that some pneumatic casters have really offensive smelling 'rubber' because of plasticizer in the material. You may find some are not suitable for use in a house.
Don't know where you live but I got large casters here:

I've never seen ones with the metal the same color, but a little spray paint could take care of that for you if you want the murdered out look.
That Tavolo Con Ruote table is so low to the ground! It doesn't really seem practical unless you are sitting on the floor. Do you plan to raise yours a little? The design is cute, I hope yours turns out just how you want it to!
You said it, Polygala! And it's expensive on top of it!
A quick google search reveals websites that sell nothing but casters. This might be what you you're looking for.

Thank you everyone! I'm planning on spray painting the silver portion of the caster black. I'll use a nut to raise the height of the table a bit but I love the low height of the table and since I am planning on mostly using the table while sitting down with the kids to play board games that works. I want a large low surface that doesn't feel too heavy in the room. Once it's made I'll send some pictures!
check out these sites.

I actually did this DIY about 8 months ago. I used casters from here:

I had to cut the stems because they are far too long, but otherwise the project turned out great.

Did you ever finish the table project. I was looking to do the same DIY table and was looking for the right casters, then I came across this thread and was super excited.
Please post pics and more info :)
