While reading the inspirational design blog Home Designing I stumbled upon this amazing post about Space Saving Furniture kits by Casulo. Can you believe it? An entire bedroom came out of this 31"x47" mobile box??

Whether or not you're renting a short term room, setting up a dorm room or you're just challenging yourself to small affordable compact living, Marcel Krings & Sebastian Mühlhäuser have a solution for some of you. This entire room, which consists of a twin sized bed, a hanging closet, a table, a shelf and two low end tables, all comes compacted in one small mobile unit.

Really hard to believe, right? But after you see this video you will see that it takes about ten minutes to assemble and it's a truly amazing option for some of us. This is an amazing utilitarian approach to living and the best part is that the entire room is assembled without one tool necessary.

White Enamel Flatwa...
WOW.
Ok.... Really? Cool idea but if I didn't watch the you tube video I would have never believed it.
Great idea for people that move abroad or start in a new city very far away.
very impressive
Things like that would be great for disaster areas.
Wow! The fact that the mattress was included really blew me away. Also, I was quite impressed that all of those boxes and drawers didn't need to be assembled.
I don't see how the furniture could hold a person's weight or the weight of clothes hanging in the closet or stored in the drawers. The concept is intriguing, though, and the asssembly video was fun to watch.
Amaze. What good design!
Looks amazing, my only concern is the sturdiness of the pieces and how well it will stand up to heavy use.
That's nice, but now try to get it back in the box.
...and in a year it will decorate the landfill.
Whoa! This is pretty cool!
It says on their website that the entire box weighs 170 kg, or 375 lbs. So it may actually be made of reasonably durable material.
crazy
I second fulinlin. Something like this would be excellent in disaster areas. And it would be easy and efficient to get them there quickly in 40' shipping containers.
Great for the Red Cross, for churches to give to folks who lose everything in a fire, for Katrina-like events... not so sensible for apartments, for people who have access to thrift shops and recycled furnishings, etc. But it's a great "Transformers" kind of exercise!

Well, particleboard can be pretty heavy... I assume part of the bed and table is metal, though.
This was on AT before; I didn't remember it being chartreuse, but since the video is from 2007 I guess it must have been!
i agree, i believe most people find the joy of curating and searching for home furnishings part of the decorating home process.
but a great idea for disaster relief areas and for Red Cross rescue... :)
i can't believe there is not something like this already??
That is so ridiculously cool. I wish I had one of those when I first moved up to San Francisco. It would've saved me so much time (because I had to buy all my furniture separately - seriously, my mattress was on the floor for an entire year before I got a bed frame) and space.
Ok this is every college student's DREAM! To have an entire room fit in a small box like that? Oh it would make moving so much easier! This is WAY COOL :)
Could have left it in the box. Yuck!
Woah. So the box that it comes in is actually part of the furniture. I didn't belive it. It is cheap looking but could serve a purpose.
ah! Why can't I buy it?! IT'S ONLY A PROTOTYPE! :(
I assume it's still not marketable but the great thing about it is to know that something like this is possible
