Name: Cate & Roshen
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Type of Home: Loft Style, 2 bedroom condo
Color Inspiration: The Guest Bedroom is often used by Roshen's parents, who are from India, and during a color consultation with a local interior styling company, colorTHEORY, they noticed a set of Indian Posters hanging in the room and wanted to embrace this culture. It was important that Roshen's parents felt comfortable and sparked by the room all at the same time.
Thumbs Up Voting is only activated for 48 Hours — so don't delay!
Color Inspiration continued: A strong desire for mid-century design is also quite apparent in our home and with our Interior Stylists, requested a current take on a vintage aesthetic. Our color inspiration was based on Modern Indian Interiors and a George Nelson Clock hung the wall.
Colors Used: Collectively we selected Benjamin Moore's Natura line, in the colors "Peacock Feather" for the walls, and "Bermuda Turquoise" for the doors and trim. colorTHEORY provided us with numerous and wonderful wallpaper options and enthusiastically we chose Graham and Brown's, "Viva" pattern.
Color Tip: We were encouraged to go bold and to keep an open mind. "The bigger the risk, the bigger the impact." As our Stylists also informed us of, it's best to choose 1, if not 2 complimentary colors for your main color, to achieve a cohesive look, without being overwhelming. A single color on its own is either too much, or too drab.

Looks like a hip, stylish hotel.
I like it, it's like a peacock's feather.
Love this palette!
Love the pattern on the wall. Well done!
it does remind me of a hotel.
For anyone who would like to know, here's the site
for the wallpaper.

Love this color palette! This room is fab.
Looks awesome!!
aquamarine and ravishing (= great)!!
Yep- this is the one.
Definitely awe, wait for it, some!
you can't lose with wallpaper like that :) thumbs up.
That wallpaper is ART!
Wow, SO UNIQUE. I love it.
I love the midcentury/Asian fusion!
I love it - but I wonder if "Maharaja Garden" is really an appropriate name... how about "Sweet Lime Surprise"?
Aren't the colors transmuted by the photography here? I can't really see a great color story here.
I think what gives the room interest is actually the interplay of texture and pattern. What my eye is drawn to and lingers over are the wallpaper, the bedspread, and the (Eames, but not sure exact name) chair in front of the Miller/George NElson swag leg desk.
kushkush, the elements you mentioned have color, as well as texture and pattern. They are part of the color story, are they not?
i think kushkush was just grumpy that he was up so late. lol
Beautiful! But i can't see any window ?!
Looks amazing. Am now obsessed with the wallpaper. What a great launching point. And love how the color spills out from the bedroom.
TheoJ ditto...the contest I believed was showing your ideas and completions, not others. It is a beautiful room though that the designers offered up.
In response to "smoothsailing's" statement,
here are the 1st 3 rules from the rules of the contest.
ELIGIBILITY
* The 5 entry photos should feature a single, colorful room.
* The colorful room must be in a home lived in by the contest applicant—it can be any size and can be owned, rented or sublet.
* The room can be designed by a professional, weekend hobbyist or design enthusiast.
Fantastic. The use of that wallpaper alone should send them to the next round. Gorgeous.
I have the "Bad Habits" poster. What is the other one?
calm, soothing, inspirational
Wow some snobbery going on in here... I love the room! You and the designers did a wonderful job. I didn't mind the link to the wallpaper being posted - someone may want to find it. bah humbug!!!!!
