One of the best parts about spending extended time in South America is listening to various histories, as told by locals. The stories are always compelling but often competing, and each individual recalls their version as the honest-to-God truth. More

The MYZ House in Nagano, Japan, was designed by architecture and design firm no.555 and epitomizes the concept of living simply. It blends into the natural environment with its large windows and elegant use of materials such as wood and concrete. The scale and proportion, coupled with the layout of the interior gives a spacious feeling to a small home.
Most of us think of a house as a set of walls that contain an interior space. But on a tiny lot in Japan, architect Ryue Nishizawa has designed a house that blurs the distinction between indoors and out. Almost all the exterior walls have been replaced with glass panels, railings, and curtains to create a strange, wonderful garden-house hybrid. More

When I told my friends and family I'd be spending a few months in Buenos Aires, the number one piece of advice I heard was, "watch your step!". In 1956 he wrote Wright asking for a dog house to be designed to match his own home and, after a second request, Wright eventually complied. While it was demolished in 1973, it was recently rebuilt and is taking a tour across the country. More

Clare and Thierry did what many of us love to see - restored and appreciated the character of an over 100-year-old Craftsman home. Thierry even built two bungalows in the backyard, which look like they were original to the home, for extra storage and his office.
A Brazilian woman, Dona Eunice, and her husband have been caring for children and their families for years. They've fed them, helped employ mothers in a sewing cooperative, and even adopted and took custody of 27 abandoned children. All their good deeds were rewarded by a Brazilian television show with a gorgeous sustainably-focused home makeover. More
