030912engelskerzen1.jpgThese tree candles from German candle maker Engels Kerzen stopped me in my tracks at Ambiente. Whether flickering with the yellowish glow of a lighted candle or hanging unlit in its white glory, these candles are eye catching. Check out more photos and details after the jump… More

Walking around Ambiente 2012, I noticed one of the trends that's still going strong is reclaimed decor — using recycled materials in new products — along with an overall respect for Earth's resources and inhabitants. Check out some of my favorite reclaimed products from the show and get tips on jumping on the trend. More

I saw a lot of really beautiful furniture from all over the world at Ambiente, but none of them made me stop in my tracks the way that Cut Furniture did. As I approached the booth I caught sight of this magnificent red chair, its pieces hanging on the wall behind it like art. It was love at first sight. More

021512martha01.jpgI just returned from Ambiente 2012, Europe's largest consumer goods tradeshow, which is held in Frankfurt, Germany. Second in a series of home design trends as forecasted at Ambiente: Present & Everlasting. In contrast to the light, natural wood and white Genuine & Sincere trend room, this room in the exhibit was dark, glittering and filled with precious objects based on new forms of classic designs.

First up, "Genuine & Sincere"...

The midas touch was out in full force at Ambiente. A large part of the the international design show I attended over the weekend was focused on tabletop and the trend toward gold was definitely in evidence in these collections, from the more mainstream suppliers right on up to the high end, high design pieces. I'm just back from a whirlwind weekend in Frankfurt, Germany, where I attended Ambiente, a huge international design show featuring over 4,500 exhibitors from 93 countries. It was, as you can imagine, an amazing trip - a chance to see and experience designs, trends and products from all over the world that will play a part in shaping the style of our homes in the coming years.
