Two extra large picture windows have great city skyline views but we can close the blackout curtains and create a quiet, private retreat. 13' ceilings with exposed structural supports create volume in a long narrow room. Copper, gray, green, brown and stone color palette with metallic accents makes for subdued, masculine urban feeling.

Now that you've got your white bedding and your comforter, it's time to accessorize. A fur blanket thrown across a bed looks so cozy and inviting — perfect for Sunday afternoon naps! While some faux fur throws look a little too, well, fake, we've found a selection that are pretty close to the real deal.

What do you love about your bedroom?:

I love how my bedroom feels when I wake up with the sunshine, not an alarm clock, on a Saturday morning. It has a calm quality with great light and I have put a lot of myself into the creation of the space. The dresser is a refurbish job, the photography is mine, and the striped wall is my handiwork. It's full of memories, both tangible and not, and lots of dreams.

I love that my bedroom is a sanctuary. It is simply furnished but represents my personality (my husband isn't allowed to comment on the decor in the bedroom). It is a calm and restful space.

Our bedroom incorporates some things my husband and I have accumulated and loved for a long time, and that have appeared in different spots and guises in the various places we've called home. The bureaus we splurged on when starting out give us joy every day, along with the colorful resin lamps.

As much as we love natural light in the home and in all the gorgeous bedrooms in our Bedroom Contest this month, it's healthier to sleep in complete darkness. A friend of mine is moving her bedroom to the smallest, darkest room in her home because she sleeps better in pitch darkness.

That it's a place my husband and I both love. We didn't want a serene, vanilla bedroom, we wanted something dark and moody but a little wild and fun too. This room was on a tight budget so shopping Craigslist and repurposing was our goal!

I love how my room displays my personality. I am a full time student who studies all the time, hence all the tech, but I also play around a lot; whether it be games, playing soccer, hiking or just going out with friends. Being able to portray that I balance my work and social life is very important to me.

What do you love about your bedroom?:

It's sunny, light, vintage and somehow also modern AND it seems to work with the textiles we've picked up along the way. Oh it's also not too fussy like us! We also love that most of the furniture was free or nearly free. Can't lie though, we splurged on the mattress, it's a Temperpedic and one of the best decisions we ever made. We now wake up rested and happy in this bright cozy space.
