We replaced the old window with a French door so that the room would feel more open and allow more light to come in. What a difference! Now the room is much brighter and roomier. I like the wall color too. The color is Benjamin Moore's "Abalone". It is a very relaxing and soothing color. I enjoy repurposing and restoring old things I buy at thrift stores. It is always fun to turn them into something unique and add lots of personal touches to them.
I love how cozy it is. It has a definite rustic masculine vibe ... but at the same time, modern elements. Like sleeping in a modern cabin retreat. Of course there can never be enough layers ... pillows, down comforters, or Navajo prints.
We love that our bedroom is OUR bedroom. It's a space that we have created together. Spacious with two windows providing great views of our neighborhood, the river, and downtown Manhattan. It's simple and clean and everything has it's place.
So much! It's huge, so it feels like a big airy space where you can breathe. There is tons of wall space, as well, so I have lots of flexibility on how to design and decorate... similarly, the size of the room allows for a *huge* 17-foot long closet where I can organize all of my things. The thing I like MOST, however, are the original architectural details of my room, some of which are over 100 years old... from original doorknob on my door to the stained-glass window of a chickadee that sings over my doorway onto a small breakfast balcony... I mean, could you ask for anything more?
We all deserve to have our dream bedroom at least once in our life, don't you think? A time when we can decorate our most intimate sanctuary exactly as we'd like, without regard to others. And this? This is Maggie Mason's (aka Mighty Girl's) time...
