- My daughterâs bedroom has become a room full of her personality. We recently redesigned it together using colors and accessories she loves. We gutted her closet and made it a cloffice complete with a floating desk and a chalkboard wall, with has been quite the hit with young and old alike.

- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- The rest of my house is colorful, eclectic and multi-layered, but my bedroom is very different in feeling, with gentle colors and accessories. Nothing slick or modern; all the built-in shelves and cupboards are simple and kind of rustic. It's in the back of the house on the top floor, so it's quiet with lots of natural light. It's also my only "room with a view," and I enjoy looking out the corner windows at the cityscape and my neighbor's trees and the birds living in them. My bedroom is definitely a retreat and a sanctuary (almost literally, given all the antique religious figures and art I like to collect!)

- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- I love that despite living in a rental house, I've learned to make my room a reflection of myself. I've spent the last six months slowly decluttering. Evaluating every item's importance has helped me embrace my personal style instead of trying to force my life into a predesigned aesthetic.

- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- I have a theory that one's bedroom should be a sanctuary from the day to day hectic obligations, work, stressors and general craziness. I prefer a darker- "moody" as it's been referred to- space so that it's relaxing and envelopes me as I retreat into my personal space. I'm a collector of curiosities so I fill it with things that I love or that have been handed down to me as heirlooms that are meaningful. Thankfully, I have a decent walk in closet so that only my aesthetically pleasing pieces are visible and the "clutter" is to a minimum. Until now, I've never really published photos of it because it's a personal space but I love the idea of sharing design elements and ideas within a community such as apartment therapy.
The dresser is the workhorse of bedroom furniture. Use it to store clothes and extra bedding, set one up beside the bed for a convenient bedside table or even push one into the bathroom for a little extra storage. There are a million and one options out there but these are twelve of my favorite modern design dressers.

- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- The best part of my bedroom is waking up in it. The light that filters through the shutters actually inspired the tone of the room and by limiting the colors to varied shades and textures of white and cream, the room feels peaceful and serene no matter what time of day it is. The space is big enough that I never feel crowded and, after a long day in the city, I love that I can come home to a room that is light, feminine, simple and airy. If it weren't for the honking cars outside, I might even forget that I'm in Brooklyn!

- I love the most about my bedroom the sunshine that wakes me up every morning and the great feeling which I have every time when I enter to the room.

- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- I love all of the light (barely any in Portland) that comes in through my windows. From my bed I look onto my neighbors mossy roof, and I can see the stars and the sunrise too. I moved here from New York, so things like bedroom windows, a walk-in closet, and my own bathroom were kind of unheard of. I made a light fixture out of twin light bulb adapters, and use about 20 low-wattage Edison bulbs with a dimmer to create a dynamic environment. This house is over 100 years old and has strong bones.

- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- My bedroom is the center of my home and lifestyle. It's where I first start my day and retreat for rest at the end of the day. It's where I snuggle with my kitten, dream, read, journal, watch late night movies and so much more. I love that it's full of subtle reminders that recharge and recenter.

- What do you love about your bedroom?:
- Our son Henry Fleetwood's bedroom is what we call the Fleet''woods" in the house. We placed Norfolk pines around the tepee to create a fun, imaginary forest for him to camp out in. His room faces south, so it is flooded with natural light all day long, but dark enough when the curtains are drawn for a cozy nap under the light of his moon.
