Perhaps Adrienne should check out Uhuru's newest collection for her Carnivale-Inspired Dream Outdoor Space. Uhuru designers were inspired by Brooklyn's own Coney Island and used salvaged ipe — a generic term for exotic Brazilian hardwood — from the Coney Island boardwalk for these playful designs.

Eric Manigian works primarily with a few small millers who have relationships with local arborists and tree doctors. When they receive felled trees that were cut down due to construction, disease and other factors outside of commercial tree harvesting, Eric salvages these trees for his designs, and saves them from being left to rot, chopped up for firewood, or dragged to a landfill. More

Andre Joyau creates modern, handcrafted furniture from simple materials like managed forestry plantation hardwood, reclaimed wood and salvaged industrial objects. More

April Hannah's Tree Table collection for children is made from substantial one-inch, FSC-certified, formaldehyde-free plywood with non-toxic finishes. Available in grass green, sky blue, dove white, or a clear coat finish, the tables are and stools are scaled small to fit most 5-10 year olds, and clearly inspired by nature. More

There were some great finds at BKLYN Designs this year. The show included all kinds of decorative items from handmade wooden furniture to wall accents to electronic installations, all from local Brooklyn-based companies. More
