First it was the announcement of the death of blurry photos, now it appears there's an app which can erase unwanted elements (aka people) from your photos after you snap it with just a few screen taps... More
Android phones have been equipped with high quality cameras that allow people to shoot great photos and videos for a couple years now. Smartphones with 8-megapixel cameras are becoming the norm. There's even been a full-length movie filmed with a smart phone, which got us thinking about the future of our equipment and how we continue moving towards one consolidated piece of technology. More
We've been wowed lately by the trend of vintage styled point and shoot and Micro 4/3 cameras. Suddenly taking family photos doesn't seem so bad. But even if you manage to get everybody into the frame and looking at the lens, you still have to lug around some heavy gear to keep things stable. A backpack-friendly tripod can do the trick! More
Bethany Nauert is amongst my favourite photographers/contributors here at Apartment Therapy, in no small part due to her photography skills. Her eye for details and composition of her photos make for engaging house tours. But even the best photographer has a few secret up their sleeves once they transfer over files from their camera to their computer. Bethany has a few excellent tips to improving images in Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom... More
Camera straps can come in all shapes and sizes. We've even recommend some more stylish straps to you in the past as an alternative to the ugly stock nylon ones. But as we lug our hulking DSLR around town, we've noticed that we're less concerned about finding a camera strap that looks good, but one that doesn't stand out. Well we did some searching and think we've found a nice selection of barely-there straps which do retain some style.

Once you've equipped yourself properly in the tech department, now comes the fun stuff: accessorizing and personalizing. Earlier this month, Julienne highlighted a category of tech accessory I had not even noticed prior to her post: wristlets. Yet, here they are again...this time showing up as DIY project for accessorizing your camera, offering an optional way to carry around your shooter, so I guess these wristlets are more popular than I ever realized! Amongst the obviously cool and useful, we saw our share of the wacky and wonderful at this year's CES. There was also a few concepts scattered amongst the sea of products and prototypes we think might extend technology's reach too far. Take for instance the Lifecam prototype from Panasonic, designed to film then wireless upload whatever you see/capture to the smartphone. Would you wear one of these cameras designed to capture and socially share every moment of your life?

It's ironic, as we move forward to a future of nearly picture perfect, ultra-resolution imagery at the touch of a button, it's retro-distorted pictures/video produced by the likes of the Fuuvi Bee 8mm Digital Camera users seem to really crave. At just 1.3 million pixels, 640x480 resolution, we're talking about 1st generation digital camera res (surprisingly, the wee camera offers a maximum aperture of ƒ2.8). Yet, the modest price, cute retro-modern form factor, and ability to shoot 100 minutes onto a microSD makes the Fuuvi Bee a pretty keen toy for amateur Christopher Doyles out there (sample clip below). With a name like The Love Box, we weren't so sure whether this iPhone accessory was going to be appropriate for posting. But the design proved to be quite benign and ingenious: a wooden base with a sliding mirror system allows iPhone 4/4S users to record both a forward and rear facing video simultaneously! Confused? The video below will clarify the love... More
Exhibitors at CES brought all the latest and greatest digital cameras and video recorders to Las Vegas for all the world to see. Rather than just put all that tech behind glass though, many exhibitors put up some great elaborate displays and booths for attendees to test out their new optical gear. Here are some of our favorites from the show... More
