Amongst the obviously cool and useful, we saw our share of the wacky and wonderful at this year's CES. There was also a few concepts scattered amongst the sea of products and prototypes we think might extend technology's reach too far. Take for instance the Lifecam prototype from Panasonic, designed to film then wireless upload whatever you see/capture to the smartphone. Would you wear one of these cameras designed to capture and socially share every moment of your life?
We got an opportunity to sit down with Julia Hu and Marcus Wilson of Lark at CES, with a hands-on presentation about their personal sleep coaching system born from Julia's own bout with unrestful sleep, a common result while sharing a bed with a loud snorer. Could Lark be the difference between sharing a bed restfully and suffering? More
There was a huge section of health tracking devices at the CES this year, and with the start of a New Year we thought it fitting to sum up some of the innovative new ways companies are looking to monitor your health. From calorie intake and burn, to heart rate monitoring, to sleep tracking, these devices aim to do it all to keep you more informed, achieve your targets, and make yourself feel and look better. Click on for some new devices you probably haven't seen before: More
Exhibitors at CES brought all the latest and greatest digital cameras and video recorders to Las Vegas for all the world to see. Rather than just put all that tech behind glass though, many exhibitors put up some great elaborate displays and booths for attendees to test out their new optical gear. Here are some of our favorites from the show... More
Digital scales are a dime a dozen. Digital scales with the ability to connect wirelessly to the internet to monitor/share your ups and down, a little less so, but still common enough. So why do we think the FitBit Aria might tip the scale in its favor against the competition? It's all about what happens after you step onto the scale... More

If you're a gamer, you know the dilemma of 2-player mode on one screen. Even with a spacious 50" display, split-screen mode is akin to sharing your favorite dessert: it sucks. But at this year's CES, HDTV manufacturers LG and Samsung unveiled a technology which solves not only the gamers' 2-player mode limitations, but also may put to rest any couple's disagreement of what to watch: one display, two whole distinct displays broadcast at once! The Apple Magic Mouse is the bad girlfriend I just can't quit. She's certainly beautiful, and...ahem...fits nicely in the hand. But it's got two glaring issues: 1) overly sensitive touch sensitivity (yes, I already use MagicPrefs), and 2) the mouse drinks the batteries dry way too fast. This means I've always got a full clip of extra batteries charged to pop in. It may be time to consider an inductive charging solution... More

Whew! We just got back from a long, fun week at CES. If you're unfamiliar with the Consumer Electronics Show, it's where most of the leading tech manufacturers gather to show off their latest current and upcoming technologies and prototypes. In other words, it's a tech lover's dream, especially if you're into photography equipment... More
It's all too easy to get enamored by the colossal show booths of the biggest electronics manufacturers at CES (Samsung, LG, Sony, Intel and Microsoft's booths are shows unto themselves). But I'd argue the show's charm is exhibited in the farthest reaches, deepest corners, and hidden recesses of the various booths showcasing the offerings of independent designers and companies... More
If you're fluent in Japanese or at least acquainted with ordering at the sushi bar, you'll probably know the Tamaggo 360-Imager is a +1 letter play upon the Japanese word for "egg". But what we didn't know when we first wandered up to Tamaggo's booth was exactly what the handheld device was designed to do... More
