Most of us would jump at the chance to work from home and such was the case for my wife and I — two engineers with a cat for comic relief. To work efficiently however, our sad put-it-all-in-the-corner computer space was going to need a major upgrade. See how we converted this space into a home office outfitted with all the space and function necessary to get things done. More
This isn't your average DIY; I can't give you simple step-by-step instructions or promise that you can get this done on a Saturday afternoon. After all, these chairs took me months to complete. More

Jason Dupin made some furniture for his toddler son and thought there might be other parents looking for modern, kid-sized furniture made by hand in the USA. I bet he's right. This design is also smart for small rooms as the stools tuck all the way under the table when not in use. Made in Kentucky, they're shipped flat and assembled in "less than 2 minutes." More stools can be bought separately if you like.

A fun yet functional way to raise money for charity: twenty designers redesigned the Magis Julian chair for auction at Toronto's Interior Design Show, IDS12. Clever painting, mixing of materials and, of course, spots of orange, the most popular color at IDS12. More
On the hunt for a set of Tolix chairs for our kitchen counter, I realized that unless I find the vintage version, I will not be able to comfortably afford/justify the cost of a whole set. More
Think of Chilean designer Rodrigo Alonso's N+ew seating (No More Electronic Waste) as an e-waste recycling project similar to Han Solo being frozen in carbonite. Except instead of a prized rogue smuggler frozen within, these epoxy molded piece contains a large collection of discarded computer components (or if imagination permits, droid parts). We wouldn't call them beautiful, but the chairs are a fascinating example of reuse and a reminder of how much we throw away. More
