Who says tech-equipped clothing has to be discrete or minimal? There's no shame in wearing your love of tech on your sleeve, or beyond, from head to toe. From jeans with wider pockets for easier accessibility for smartphones, to hats with embedded Bluetooth headsets, to smart socks...it's all about (hard)ware your can wear. And I won't lie, I'm kind of curious about these smartphone-friendly jeans!
Back in my IT days, I used to carry around disinfecting wipes whenever I had to work on another person's keyboard computer. Some of those keyboards and mice didn't look like they had been cleaned in ages. Needless to say, I'm much happier working from home where I can keep hardware clean and pristine. I wanted to share a few of the techniques I practice to keep everything looking and working well...
MoreMy home office is so comedically small, I can practically touch everything in the closet-conversion from a seated position. Even if your workspace isn't this compact, keeping your daily tools within arm's length can be helpful for productivity. Here's a clever design that dropped into my inbox which eliminates the condition of "piles 'o stuff" with an industrially modern finish the late Steve Jobs might have approved of...

Constructed from two solid pieces of wood, and then glued together, inside it's all the latest and greatest, with a 2.4 GHz Bluespot wireless mouse (OS X and Windows compatible).

Upon asking a few questions, the problem seemed to stem from the location of their Apple Airport Extreme, tucked inside a cabinet in the far corner of their house. I recommended positioning it higher and outside the all-wood cabinet. Voila! Improved reception!

There's something insanely cool about geodesic, faceted pieces. Maybe it's how they manage to look futuristic and crafty at the same time. Or maybe it's the way their many surfaces scatter the light. Or maybe they're just cool. Either way, we want to get in on this.
MoreWhen I saw this photo pop into my Pinterest feed this morning, it immediately brought back memories of an old home office from a previous apartment. Not because my home workspace looked anything like Aly's from design blog, A Little Tipsy, but for the fact I recognized she had made a very similar giant-sized mousepad I had years back...
