It's over? That's impossible. Wasn't Christmas yesterday? I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around it being Tuesday already, let alone 2013. But January and the Cure flew by much faster than I anticipated. It seems like just yesterday I was afraid to go in the cabinet under the sink because of the spider that lived there, but then I realized I've been under that sink three times today and thought nothing of it. Huh. I guess I really did accomplish something here. More
Here I sit, satisfied, at my clean, organized desk, staring up at the Stendig calendar (that I hung this past week) reading "February". I can't believe January is all done already! Besides the desk, did I finish well?

Suffice it to say, the January Cure has been quite an experience at my home. Like many of you, I signed up because I thought the process might be just the kick in the pants my fiancé and I needed to finally get a few things done around the house. It would be an opportunity to turn our mental project list into a physical project list and to tackle things in manageable steps, with the support of a community of others trying to accomplish the same goal. And it was all of that. And more… More
The last week of the January Cure was low-key in my Baltimore home… until Sunday night. A few projects led up to a small Super Bowl gathering and, with the game's outcome, the night culminated with a romp through the city's boisterous streets. More
Orange is a gorgeous color with different hues like tangerine, coral, terracotta and titian. It was 2012's color of the year and is still immensely popular. With its beautiful optimistic glow, it's no wonder orange continues to be a favorite. More
What a month! I can't believe how quickly the month has gone by as I find myself completing the last week of the January Cure. There are still some things on my list for my apartment, and I will share as I tackle future projects, but this task oriented list has me started and on a good schedule to keep making my home more me and more comfortable and enjoyable. Here is what I worked on this week. More
We're finally wrapping up the January Cure and it feels really good to be done. For those of you who have been following my progress, you know that I've been working with a furnished temporary rental in the suburbs while actively searching for a more permanent place in the city. More
The January Cure is officially over, and I have to say it was a really nice way to the start the new year. January is usually a quiet, sometimes lonely month for me, and this year I found it to be productive, rewarding, and surprisingly social: I learned new skills (I am looking at you bathroom caulk!), I spent more quality time in my kitchen (yay for better lighting!), and I had fun sharing and swapping cure updates with friends and all of you. Good stuff. More
I love how all the harder stuff is weighted in the front end of the month, and now we're coasting downhill. It felt great to be in the final stretch and I'm totally thrilled with how much I've gotten done this month. If only I was this motivated to improve my home (and myself) all the time. Hmmm, a monthly Cure perhaps? I can't believe I just said that. I don't know who I am anymore. More
In the spirit of honesty, I'm pretty glad the January Cure is over. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I participated, and I'm even glad I decided to share my progress with all of you (nothing keeps you on-track like knowing your mother is reading about your housekeeping skills). But I'm looking forward to enjoying my clean and organized house scot-free, without daily tasks to complete. Like any regime, it's satisfying to do the work, but it's better to enjoy the spoils!
