Janel's latest dispatch from Milan is all about colorful sofas from Scandinavian design house Muuto.

The decor in this 140-year-old restored cottage looks like it was found in chic, under-the-radar boutiques. In reality, much of it was found (in spots like the roadside and the backyard), inherited, or just repurposed. It's eco-friendly, budget-friendly, and very stylish.

The 4-year-old daughter of a friend of mine recently "rescued" a pink plastic lawn flamingo from Lowes. "Mommy", she told my friend at the store, "the other flamingos are pulling his feathers and scratching his beak! I think he wants to live in a nice, white house like ours."
