We're big fans of Flor carpet tiles for their awesome selection and commitment to sustainability, but it's even better when someone improves upon a product to make it work in their own home. To compliment his Burke table, Tyler over at Plastolux recently came up with a way to create a round rug from a series of sixteen floor tiles. More
Do you have older wood floors that can't withstand another round of refinishing? Or does your budget mean it is impossible to refinish or replace your floors any time soon? You may want to consider painting or staining them in stripes or another pattern. More
When I look at this picture, I'm reminded of "The Wave" formation in Arizona's Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness. But these undulating lines come from much further away — the isles of Indonesia, where sustainable wood manufacturer Indo Teak reclaims its exquisite teak flooring. More photos below: More
Brooklyn to West's Ariele has done it again. In my opinion, she's the junkyard, dumpster diving, demo-ed house DIY Queen. Color is such a fun element to work with in the home. Typically one would think to use color on the walls, in the furniture and through the accessories scattered throughout the house. While all of that is right on track, the floor is a spectacular way to showcase color as well. More
Q: I've recently had some construction work done in my rental apartment and the workers have really damaged the hardwood floors! The flooring is already very old (it's a pre-war building in downtown Manhattan) and it had a lot of existing scratches, gouges, and general wear. Now the wear and tear has drained the flooring of its color and looks perpetually dirty. Can you recommend a product or process for bringing the wood back to life?
