Now that you've successfully showed off your new HDTV during Super Bowl Sunday, it's time to get all the pieces together to put together a home entertainment system. If you're preparing to blow a chunk of your paycheck on a Super Bowl party this weekend, be sure you choose the right HDTV between LED, LCD or plasma technology. We walk you through the basic differences and help you make the right decision for the big game. More
I moved three years ago with every intention of buying a new TV when I arrived. But after months of procrastination, it became less of a priority. I started watching the shows I liked online (Parks & Rec, Mad Men, 30 Rock) when I had the time and with limited commercials. I also enjoyed the money I was saving without a cable bill. I struggled too with the idea of bringing a giant black box into my small space, which I had spent months carefully designing into a serene and cozy place. More
I was just over at our friends' house this weekend to help them with the layout and decor of their new home. Alongside flooring options and wall storage, one topic they were excited discussing was upgrading from their ancient 32" CRT television to a new flat panel HDTV. My friends have already decided they're going plasma, but they weren't yet sure which size to purchase. Reviewing the size of their living room and also remembering the showcase of HDTVs at CES this year, I pushed them to go big(ger)...

First introduced as a concept at last year's CES, Samsung followed up this year with a demo of a working Evolution Kit, the heart and brains of Samsung's 7000, 8000, and 9000 Smart TV models. Inside each black box are the CPU, memory and GPU driving all the interactive features of their latest displays, and the kits allow older sets to bump up specs for "a few hundred dollars" according to Samsung reps on the floor...

Ultra HD made a big splash at CES this year, and is starting to tease us with actual sets showcasing huge sizes as well as equally large price tags. These Ultra HD sets offer huge 3840 X 2160 resolutions where measly HDTVs have only 1920x1200. I'm already dreaming about the possibility of owning one of these beauties. More
The wow factor was off the scale and crowds elbowed to take photos and a closer look at a monolithic display of Samsung's S9 4K resolution UHD televisions at the booth entrance. Tiered in size, 85", 95", and 110", Samsung's 4K displays also sport a most unusual display/frame stand, "Timeless Gallery", which seems suited only for the largest of spaces considering size and form factor... Upgrading an old CRT television to a modern flat screen is a costly endeavor in itself, and it gets even more expensive when you consider some of the hidden costs of upgrading. For instance, if your old tube TV fit snug in a TV cabinet, you'll need to find a new furniture home for the likely larger new screen. Or, you could take a cue from this no-cost DIY project and transform an old TV armoire into something new. More
I like to play the equivalent of "Where's Waldo" while viewing House Tours throughout the year, searching for each of the household's television(s). I know you're there somewhere, maybe even just cropped out of the frame...I see the remote! Some people try to hide their televisions, while others incorporate them as part their home decor. Either way, our tours often prove televisions don't have to be an eyesore with some planning
