We (me, my husband Rob, and our 6-year-old daughter Kaia) are scroungers and DIYers. Our style is rustic, eclectic, and kind of modern, with a few traditional elements mixed in for contrast. When we started house-hunting back in 2002, we had a clear vision of what we wanted: a '50s or '60s ranch that we could gut easily to customize in our own style. Instead, we ended up with a true antique!

We bought our circa 1900 house a couple of years ago from an older woman who's idea of upkeep was locking the door behind her. (The only 'repair' she would admit to was the leaking skylight in the foyer...). Once the oh-hum repairs like a new roof, waterproofing the basement, swapping out leaky faucets, and repairing a crumbling chimney were taken care of, we could focus on the more glamorous task of giving the old girl some color and some life!

I am the first owner of this 600 square foot condo which was built in 2010 in a cute Montréal, Quebec neighborhood. For me, this condo represents freedom and adulthood. I knew this was my chance to create the ultimate bachelorette pad I had always dreamed of decorating without having to make any compromise.

I'm an Interior Designer and have always desired to have more space with which I can decorate. I recently moved from Manhattan to Jersey City where I found my dream canvas - a two bedroom, two bathroom apartment in a townhouse overlooking Van Vorst Park. In my job, I often get to work with clients who have seemingly limitless budgets, but this is not the case in my personal life.

When I bought this 1905 Craftsman style home on Valentine's Day of 2007 I had no idea that it would become my labor of love. It was in terrible shape, with every room needing attention. I'm an artist and an art teacher, so every project was approached in terms of creativity first and "know-how" second...in fact, when I started working on the place I always joke that I didn't know what a hammer was.
