Claire’s family home is a reflection of the way she lives her life. Her years spent working for an environmental organization in France laid the foundation for a life spent passionately up-cycling and experimenting with sustainable yet stylish living. It was her frustration with the misconception that ‘eco-friendly’ automatically had to mean hessian sacks and hairy armpits that spurred her to build her beautiful business Rapa Nui Gallery – a celebration of design-led, contemporary style that keeps the environment in mind. As a result, Claire’s home is bright, cheerful and full of charming, guilt-free little luxuries.

In a rehabbed industrial loft in Overbrook, Celeste and David have taken their home back to the future. Both avid retro collectors, the couple has decorated their modern space with all sorts of vintage ephemera ranging from 1950s movie posters, to flea market mid-century furniture finds.
Name: Drew Fuller, actor, and Ceara McAuliffe, of Middle Sister General Vintage Location: Hollywood Hills; Los Angeles, California Size: 950 square feet Years lived in: 1 1/2 years
Drew grew up at the beach in Orange Country and Ceara was raised in Venice, so they wanted their Hollywood Hills home design to have a connection to the coastal lifestyle. Another consideration for the design was the fact that their home is small, so they've opted for minimal furnishings to help make the space feel larger.
Name: Carol Stall Thomas, freelance writer and jewelry artist, and husband Phil Thomas, Account Tech for the City of Austin Location: East Side; Austin, Texas Size: 985 square feet Years lived in: 1.5 years; Owned
Carol and Phil relocated to Austin's East Side from another popular Austin neighborhood when they found a dark, cramped 1930s house for sale. It was a mess when they bought it, but Carol and Phil saw potential. They rented the house next door while they dived into a remodel, with the goal of opening the house up for more light while respecting the home's history. They've preserved many of the home's authentic details and elements, all while infusing it with their own personalities. The result is a charming couple residing in an equally charming cottage.

Joey Tierney’s home perfectly reflects her personal style: chic and modern. Her past clients include Seth Green, Ashley Madekwe, Diana Agron, Jaime Pressly, Kristen Bell, Natasha Bedingfield, Audrina Patridge, Billy Bob Thorton, Andy Garcia, and Michael Cera, to name a few. In fact, Joey’s first big break came years ago with none other than Britney Spears, where she worked in the wardrobe department for Britney's "Oops I Did it Again" and "Dream Within a Dream" world tours.
Name:Tanya Aguiniga, Furniture, textiles and accessories designer, and Todd Beattie, West Coast Visual Merchandiser for CB2 Location: Atwater Village; Los Angeles, California Size: 670 square feet Years lived in: 7 years
You may know Tanya Aguiniga from her unique furniture designs that double as pieces of art, or her line of cotton rope necklaces and bracelets. I was dying to get a peek inside her home after seeing her work at the Parachute Market at LA's Dwell on Design. She insisted that her place was small, but of course I knew it would be packed full of interesting objects and references to the culture of her native Tijuana.
Name:Amy and RobMacMillan and their kids, Tatum and Mo Location: Newport, Rhode Island Size: 3,900 square feet Years lived in: 11 years; owned
It’s hard to believe that Amy and Rob MacMillan’s utterly charming home, set back behind a stone wall along Newport’s scenic ten-mile drive, started out as a building with a completely utilitarian purpose. The house was originally a greenhouse for Bonniecrest mansion, and the grounds were used as farmland for the sprawling 1914 estate built on the shores of Brenton Cove. Converted into a home in the 1950’s, this repurposed space has many unique characteristics that are equally as charming as they are challenging.
Name: Noah Marion of Noah Marion Quality Goods Location: Travis Heights; Austin, Texas Size: 1250 square feet Years lived in: 4 years; Rented
Full of light, warm woods, colorful art, and an enviable collection of timeless and classic accessories arranged into lovely vignettes, Noah Marion's South Austin home is a lesson in how to collect well-designed objects for a rich, meaningful home without the clutter.
Name: Scotti Sitz, creator of GARDE (lifestyle, gift, and home accessories shop) Location: Hancock Park; Los Angeles, California Size: 2,600 square feet Years lived in: 4 months
Scotti's home reminds me of the classic California Spanish-style interiors you find in Malibu or Santa Barbara. The home (and its inhabitant) carry such elegance and beauty without being overly fussy. This particular style of interiors has been appreciated and documented over the years in books such as California Romantica, and I can see why — the aesthetic is quite beautiful.
Name: Maria and Eric Location: Jordaan; Amsterdam, The Netherlands Size: 200 square meters Years lived in: 5 years; Owned
Welcome to Maria and Eric’s historical Amsterdam home with a modern twist. The two purchased this four-story abode five years ago and renovated the whole structure from top to bottom. Maria put it lightly when she said that renovating is “not an easy task in a foreign country.” But they've managed to see the house through every inch of that transformation — and what an amazing result! Each floor features modern interiors, layered with classic vintage elements and art that add depth, texture and plenty of interest.
