Spotify has been out for a few weeks now and it seems like plenty have scored an invite and have migrated over to the hot streaming service (if you haven't scored an invite, here are some tips). For many, the biggest downside of switching to Spotify is losing all of the work they've done in the process of "thumbs-uping" their favorite Pandora tunes. If this sounds familiar - something we suspect may be common - then check out how to export your favorites from Pandora and add them to a Spotify playlist. More
There is something to be said for the ability to look at a scrap pile of wood and turn it into something spectacular. Take this bench, for instance. You never would have guessed it came from the scrap pile! More
Show some family spirit and cheer for your favorite kid with a felt pennant. We like this idea to add some retro flair in a kid's room or even to bring along to your kid's soccer game. More
I've lived for 18 months staring at my disaster of a closet. There has been so much other stuff going on with the property that, despite the eyesore, I couldn't begin to think what I could do to enclose it. Believe it or not, this is the good version. For months I was sorting through boxes that I would drag up from the basement and they spent an awful lot of time sitting in front of this gaping hole of a closet. More
Well, it might cost you a few pennies (literally), but with a pair of old shoes and some glue there is nothing stopping your little Freds and Gingers from learning how to tap up a storm. More
Wall art is a big source of inspiration for us here at Ohdeedoh. It can provide points of interest when we're designing vignettes in our children's rooms. A fantastic piece of artwork can even be a primary focal point in an entire room. But original artwork is often out of reach for many budgets so we often settle for prints of originals (which are of course fabulous in their own right). If you're decorating your child's room and just feel that it's missing that original and unique piece to complete it, read on. You just might be able to make it yourself.
In a typically adorable interview, author Sloane Crosley said, "Similarly, I built and stained the bookshelves in my apartment and this actually came up at breakfast with a friend this morning. She said, 'You must really not sleep.' And I thought, 'I must really not write.'" I know I get some of my best housework done when I'm putting off actual work… More
Re-Nest reader Cassidy (of the blog Remodelaholic) emailed us her hutch makeover, and we were impressed enough to want to show it to you! She managed to turn what is otherwise a pretty old-fashioned hutch into something crisp and modern. As she writes on her blog: "We had the hutch sitting in our dining room untouched for at least 6 months... In the end I just couldn't stand the huge brown monstrosity anymore so I thought we should give it a quick update..."
Tea dying is a natural dying process that leaves a beautifully subtle color wash onto fabric. Dip dying is becoming a popular trend with soft furnishings. It not only provides a natural, handmade look; it is actually very simple to do yourself. I have made a set of three towels in two shades of tea. Black and raspberry transform natural, unbleached tea towels into soft, warm, and functional accents. More
In Southern California, we're gearing up for a little something called "fire season," and while the flames are alighting the mountain tops and clouds of smoke are hanging over the city, putting your fireplace to use can sound a little less than cozy. Use your lumber logs for something other than a roaring fire by repurposing them into a much more harmless use: a plant stand. Having only used a hand saw once in summer camp many years ago, let's just say I'm no lumberjack. However, this project was a breeze and the actual assembly took me under an hour.
