Grey and yellow is definitely the new classic nursery palette, and Elizabeth put it to work in the most adorable way for her new baby boy's room. The walls are the perfect shade of pale grey to act as a backdrop to the sweet pieces she selected for the space. We love that the dresser was something she already owned that she painted sunshine yellow, and the small side table was an old piece she found in her grandfather's basement that she spruced up with some green and white paint. She even brought in the glider that her husband was rocked in as a baby and had it reupholstered in a lovely, deeper shade of grey. And the elephants? They subtly pop up here and there without being too "themey", and the whirlwind of graphic elephant cutouts in the mobile create a gorgeous focal point for sweet, 3-week-old baby Sam to gaze at during diaper changes.

Chances are, you've probably seen Jane Foster's work, and we've featured her many times ourselves. Her work whole-heartedly celebrates the bold shapes, patterns and colors from the 60's and 70's - one can't help feel a bit nostaligic when admiring her designs. When it was time to create a space for her daughter Polly, she replicated this passion for vintage and retro design. The result is a space that is magical and vintage-inspired, but one that feels undoubtedly modern as well.

Roxane took the notion of DIY very seriously when creating her girls' shared space. Everything from the beds to the wardrobe to the upholstery to installing the floor -- she proudly did it all with her own two hands. Add a year of concerted vintage hunting and a drive for using unconventional colors and -- voilà! -- you have a one-of-kind, gorgeous room for two little girls who got the pretty without the pink.

New mom, Erika, knew she wanted her son's room to be a fun, colorful space. She also knew she wasn't so into the traditional themed nurseries. Taking cues from her husband's Mexican heritage, their love for color, and a suggestion from a friend, the luchador theme was born. We'd say she succeeded in avoiding traditional themes indeed. And she did it with style, fun, and sophistication. She resisted the temptation to overload the room with every lucha libre piece she could find and kept it sweet and light with a bold stroke of humor.

Martina and her husband Jason were in a unique position when designing the kids' room for their house. They still don't know how many, what gender, and what ages the children they foster will be. While they've had two calls already for placement that haven't come through, they are anxiously anticipating opening their home to some kids who desperately need a loving space of their own--any day now.

Holly had finished designing the room as a nursery for baby Henry just 2 years ago and already it was looking like it was time for a redo. She thought long and hard about her decision to put her two boys in that same room -- she just couldn't bear the option of having her 6-year-old Drew upstairs alone at the top of some very steep stairs. So a shared room it was. And a small one at that. Small, but she didn't let that discourage her from making a happy, playful space filled with the things her boys love.

Sara has a knack for organizing and zero tolerance for clutter. Both of these traits are clearly evident in Phia and Anthony's shared bedroom. It's no easy task to divide a room between a twelve-year-old girl and her five- year-old brother but a combination of cleverly arranged shelving units, distinctive paint colors and a few good-natured children make it all work wonderfully.

The focus is on play: toys, music, dress-up and books all within easy reach and is reflected in the playfulness of the decor.

When Addison's fantasy-filled attic playroom was featured as part of a Green Tour on Re-Nest, it won the hearts of readers. Parents Lynn and Steve transformed the attic space--along with Addison's bedroom and bath--when they renovated their 1860's carriage house in Madison, WI. Creative and budget-minded, the couple found the majority of building materials and supplies at Habitat for Humanity ReStore, along with favorite thrift stores. They were happy to let us take a closer look at the dreamy spaces they created for their daughter.
