DRYWALL IS HAPPENING! Finally, some exciting, transformative, visual progress. The space is feeling bright and wide-open. 

Aesthetically, Jane's kitchen wasn't her cup of tea, but it wasn't in bad shape. The real issue was the lack of functional storage — and the lack of a vent hood, which meant that every time Jane cooked anything it would set off the smoke alarm. Yikes.

We spent this week painting. This is our hallway, the painting project that enamored us of Farrow & Ball’s Down Pipe (the top field). Lamproom Gray by Farrow & Ball is in the bottom field.

I see a lot of interior transformations, but I'm a little obsessed with this one cottage renovation going on in Finland. So far it's comprised a series of teaser photos over the past couple of months, and I am just waiting for the final reveal. And waiting. And waiting. But now I can't stand it anymore, so I'm going to let you in on my exquisite pain. 

One of the most frequently lamented problems in a kitchen is a lack of storage, an issue that can be compounded when it's a rental kitchen and you don't have as many possibilities to customize it to your needs. Immediately after insulation was installed, the drywall crew came in and hung new drywall throughout the kitchen and family room. This included the new walls that had recently been framed and the existing walls that had been opened up for plumbing, electrical and new windows.
