Living in a tiny apartment with randomly angled walls and sloped floors is such a uniquely New York experience. Other than that, I instantly adored the large front window that looks out to the street.

What I Love About My Small Home:

I remember falling in love with this apartment almost instantly as I walked through the doors. It was the windows really: four big windows letting in swathes of gorgeous afternoon sun light. In fact, my favorite thing to do really is to sit under my counter and look at the apartment, taking in the play of light on my turquoise walls. I love that despite being such a small apartment, there’s a proportional division of space between the kitchen, living area, and bedroom without making it look too closed off. It’s also rather quirky in that the walls are uneven and the ceiling is a little crooked, which though made structural changes really difficult, makes it that much more unique. Yet its biggest selling point is really the location. I’m within walking distance to downtown, close to Whole Foods and a whole bunch of restaurants and coffee shops, the cinema and art museum, all whilst surrounded by a whole lot of green!

What I Love About My Small Home:

We LOVE the big windows that let in lots of natural light, and the built-ins in the the kitchen are gorgeous. We fell in love at first sight. We also love the French doors leading into every room.

Their home’s newest decor, however, speaks not to globetrotting, but to an entirely different sort of adventure, -that of first-time parenthood...times two! Marisa and Peter welcomed their twin babies Macy and Oliver into the world one year ago and it has turned their lives and home upside down in the most wonderful way.

What I Love About My Small Home:

The openness of the space with the tall ceilings, as well as all the natural light that comes in through my main windows. I also love the old Victorian details with the original molding around the archways and windows. Every once in a while I have to pinch myself to remind me that, yes, this is actually my wonderful home!

I'm warning you — if you've never clicked over to CuffHome to check out the shop's offerings, your Pinterest board is about to get a workout.  A fluffy ottoman with tiny gold feet peeking out, a 70s-inspired channel chair, a chain-wrapped ball lamp, a sleek blue velvet sofa, a rope-wrapped chandelier... although these glamorous yet organic, sensuous yet industrial pieces are rooted in a vintage aesthetic, they're completely modern. Wendy Schwartz, the designer behind them, describes them as having a "down to earth edge". In addition to designing furniture, Wendy, along with her partner, Kristi Bender, creates interiors that employ the same playful and surprising sensibility.

What I Love About My Small Home:

It feels like a home!

This is the smallest apartment I've ever lived in. To fit great location into my budget, I downgraded to this apartment, which is just a bit more than 1/3 the size of my previous apartment.

It is an oddly shaped teeny-tiny 2 bedroom (yes, you can call it a 2-bedroom) with the world's smallest bathroom (no tub, no sink, called the "shoilet" because you can shower and pee at the same time). Yet, I turned it into my own. I feel fun, inspired, relaxed, and happy whenever I am at home.

What I Love About My Small Home:

We've been wanting to live in a space like this for years. We appreciate the building's history as a significant design from the 1930's with hints of the Art Deco era. Some of our favorite elements are the triangular bay window that lets in a ton of western light, the view of the city and mountains, the warehouse style windows, the unique archway/alcove by the front door, the hardwoods, the list goes on! This is the first place we've had together, and have enjoyed curating the furnishings to express our style. We've started to dabble in DIY projects, including the dining room table and credenza, with plans for more.

Finnish-born, French-educated, LA living, Karina Oldemans combines the practicality of the first, the sophistication of the second and the imagination of the third for timeless, classic interiors with a modern sensibility.
