We're on our computer probably way longer everyday than we should admit, and have been known to welcome both dawn and dusk in a single sitting in front of our computer. But lighting in the daytime is much different than the lighting at night, especially in home offices with windows. F.lux is an application which adjusts your monitor's color temperature throughout the day, warm at night and brighter during the day, hopefully relieving eye strain. More
It's estimated that the human eye can see 10 million colors, but researchers have yet to pinpoint a specific number. Maybe HP can help with ongoing ocular research. You see, their new external computer monitor can display 1.07 billion colors -- 64 times that of other displays including Apple's LED Cinema Display. Why they chose to promote this milestone with the most drab desktop image ever is still a mystery. More
Ah transparency! It's not just the word du jour at the White House. Transparent screens can be great decorating tools when done correctly. The trick involves taking a photograph of what's exactly behind your computer monitor and then using that image as your desktop wallpaper. The optical illusion can make office spaces feel larger, plus it allows your décor sensibilities to move throughout the room uninterrupted by a big blank screen. More
It almost seems as if the Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD was built with small homes in mind. The 27-inch LCD panel takes into account that many of us use our computer monitors after hours as TV screens, offering the right connectors to allow for both computing and TV tuning from one device. More

Sure the latter has a smaller footprint, but it doesn't support audio and, up until now, there's only been one compatible screen. While buying an adapter that allows your Mac to plug into a DVI or standard DisplayPort monitor is a good alternative, wouldn't it be nice to avoid adapters all while not breaking the bank? More

If you're one of the people that purchased an iPad this weekend, congratulations. Hopefully you weren't one of the foolish looking folks that we saw on our local news &mdash you weren't portrayed in the best of ways! However, we're sure there are a thousand and one things you're dying to do with your iPad &mdash have you considered using it as a second monitor yet? More
Um. Yes, please. This monitor's been around since October, but we just discovered it and had to share. The 23-inch LED backlit monitor is less than 2-inches thick -- perfect for squeezing a home office into a tight, unused closet, or small apartment. We love the acrylic neck as well as the touch controls that appear on the bezel frame at the touch of a finger, then fade away. Crunch Gear has a video review of the SyncMaster XL2370 after the jump.
