When we first found out we were having a baby boy, being an Interior Designer I instantly started thinking of the ideal nursery. The challenge was converting the only extra room (my "woman den") into a space that all members of the family would feel comfortable hanging out in including our seven-year-old son.
Maggie and her family relocated to Heilsbronn, Germany and began decorating and renovating (lots of DIY!) their new home. Her son's bedroom was livable but had no life. A subtle, but warm paint job and the addition of nautical-inspired accessories later and her son has a room that reflects his interests and personality.

We wanted to create a light, welcoming, comfortable, smart kid space. We were not able to attach ourselves to one specific theme, so we started small. The Melissa and Doug tall giraffe was the first purchase and then we went from there.
The start of a new year often injects us with energy and motivation to organize and clean. (And, in my case, the feeling is usually gone by February!) Closets are a traditional target, but what if you don't have a closet? Kids usually get the smallest bedrooms in the house, often lacking a closet, but that doesn't mean they can't have a functional, organized faux-closet.
We have put a lot of love into our 1940's home, and baby Zach's nursery was no exception. Not long after we found out there was a baby on the way we set to work on making his room a fun and useable space.

I'm often conflicted when it comes to children's spaces in that I love the clean, bright aesthetic of a white space, but I'm also partial to bold color. So when I came across this room from parents Tera and Wes of Armosa Studios, I was thrilled to find the best of both worlds.
Two sisters in Paris used to share this space and it is a pretty cute "before" space. The little house bed was a DIY project and the prevalence of pink was offset by the white walls and sunlight. With the youngest sister out of a crib, it was time to redesign and, just their luck, their aunt is super style savvy and loves to take on decorating projects. With paint, wallpaper and several re-imagined thrift store purchases, she turned their new room into a soft, elegant haven.
