So you want to create a little outdoor oasis but you're a little strapped for cash. Don't worry — it doesn't always take a lot of money to look like a million bucks. Here are seven sources for budget outdoor furniture to help you get started.

Those of you who followed along with my liveblogging of the January Cure may be surprised to learn I have a three-season porch. Nowhere in any of my posts was it mentioned, because it's sadder than even my corner kitchen cabinet. It's always been a clutter magnet, and now I'm ready to reclaim it as a functional and pretty space for growing herbs and entertaining.

Whether you have an entire back yard or just a small balcony, an outdoor storage chest is great for both storage and extra seating. Use the chest to store gardening tools, seat cushions or pool toys and then, when the party's hopping, invite guests to plop down on top of it. 

When asked what my favorite garden tool is, I enthusiastically effuse over my half-moon edger, like the one here from Blue Stone Garden. Many people don't use them, or even know what they are for, but they are — in my opinion — the one tool that can most easily help you transform a garden. 

Patios are so ugly first thing in spring. Wet winter leaves are still caked in the corners, and everything is totally devoid of color until the plants turn green. So it feels really good to finally get your deck or patio to where it's usable and enjoyable.
