DIY bloggers Chris and Julia Marcum (of Chris Loves Julia) finally got to working on a project they've been meaning to for years (hey, we've all been there!):
One of the joys of living in Phoenix is the ability to relish being outdoors year round. Granted, a pool and some shade are necessities during our lengthy summers, but more often than not you have one, or know someone who does. When I had the privilege of shooting Scuba's house in February, I was delighted to find one of the most incredible outdoor spaces I've ever seen.
We've seen vertical gardening, rooftop plants, and balcony containers as clever solutions for small spaces. But are there others? I went looking for other tiny spots to add a little green — in other words, where to garden when you don't have a garden.
Every kid dreams about a treehouse. I still dream about one myself. If you are lucky to live in the country with a big garden or land, then it might be a dream that can become true if you're handy.
MoreMy backyard is the size of a postage stamp, and filled with dog poop and sorrow. Redoing it, however, is for another day. I'll get there at some point, and will then be all over these DIY outdoor tables. In the meantime, if your outdoor space is in better shape than mine, follow the links for instructions on how to make one of these yourself.
Southfanning was working from the dark recesses of a basement home office when he decided it was time to emerge from the subterranean confines and build himself a new place to work. He wanted a place free from distractions and noise inside the house, where privacy and quiet and would reign supreme with a better view. What he wanted was a backyard office...a shed workspace he dubbed, the Shoffice!
When a friend told me he was considering planting two trees to celebrate the birth of his friends' new baby twins, I must admit I swooned. Birth-trees! Such a sweet idea, but there are a few things to consider...
MoreA few weeks ago Jason wrote about blue outdoor furniture to match the springtime of his dreams, and now that it's finally sunny here in Chicago, I've decided to compile a roundup of yellow furniture to match mine. Here's a list of ten sunny tables, bistro sets, chairs, lounges, and rockers, all for under $200.
MoreFrom luxurious infinity pools and large, leafy backyards to yurts and small, bright balconies, we've had a sampling of all kinds of outdoor spaces in our house tours. Whatever your outdoor space may be, these creative and varied homes offer some great warm-weather inspiration.
MoreSince you only get one chance to make a good first impression, make guests smile with a charming welcome mat. Whether you're greeting guests with a simple "hi" or a silhouette of the four-legged member of your family, a good door mat and a handsome door will put your best foot forward.
