Name: Scott Ackerman
Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Your Home Office Organization or Tech Tip: Keep the cables out of sight. As a DJ and producer I've got to deal with an unbelievable amount of wires. I got so fed up with the crows nest on my old desk that I hand built a custom console to house all the equipment and hide the cables. There are surge protectors built into the box to efficiently power everything as well as an in-desk iPhone dock and USB hub to keep peripherals neat and tidy while working. More

Location: West Hollywood, California
Your Home Office Organization or Tech Tip: As a designer, I try to surround my workspace with things that I admire for their design, colors, etc. From the JBL Creature speakers that are almost 10 years old but so cool to look at, to my credenza that I designed. More

Location: Spokane, Washington
Your Home Office Organization or Tech Tip: If possible put your office in a place that you enjoy being in. Makes all the difference if you are working in a space that feels good. Make a to-do list for the day. One project at a time on the desk but my favorite tip is to dust the desk at the end of the day, helps to put things where they belong and start the next day with a clean "slate." More

Name: "Uncle" Noah Apodaca
Location: Santa Ana, California
Your Home Office Organization or Tech Tip: I laid out my new home recording studio with access to the gear and functionality as the goal. I wanted the design to maximize access to and availability of my various controllers and synthesizers and my DJ rig, so rather than have things tucked away in drawers and cabinets, I tried to keep as much right out in the open as possible. Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Your Home Office Organization or Tech Tip: Digital filing can be a key weapon in the battle against the daily influx of paper—but you still have to spend some time filing. While we need to retain some papers in hard copy form, scanning as much as possible and getting electronic bills really helps cut down on the amount of physical space required for files. More

Name: Chris Nguyen
Location: Houston, Texas
Your Home Office Organization or Tech Tip: If you have a small space like my 450 square foot studio, things such as sprawling desks setups can easily become an unwarranted focal point. Most days, I find that all I need is my MacBook Pro and a good writing/sketching surface. When I need an more screen space, I roll out the second half of my office (hacked 2x2 bookshelf with attached casters), which I keep stored in a closet. More

Name: Kerstin Santa
Location: Black Rock, Connecticut
Your Home Office Organization or Tech Tip: Lighting is critical. Luckily, the southwestern exposure of this corner office gives me oodles of gorgeous golden natural light. I am a big fan of putting multiple lamps (such as the globe pendants) on a single dimmer switch, and locating that device on my desk for easy access. (You can see the dimmer under the left side of the files in the detail shot.) I blend ambient, overhead and task lighting depending on the work at hand. While the pendants provide surprisingly good light and add a touch of drama to the room, their primary function is to bring the 8'6" ceilings down at the workstations, creating a cozy, cubby-like environment in each one. Name: Justyn Hegreberg
Location: Portland, Oregon
Your Home Office Organization or Tech Tip: I use this computer mostly for editing photography, but it is also our music server. The iMac is connected to a Super Pro 707 DAC in another room via a long optical cable. The DAC is connected to a Kef Picoforte 1 mini system with a Velodyne sub to fill in the missing hertz. Our entire music library (which is on the LaCie Grand hard drive) can be controlled wirelessly with Remote on the iPod Touch. More

Name: Matthew M.
Location: Washington, DC
Your Home Office Organization or Tech Tip: My workspace is often where I spend time waking up in the morning and winding down before bed. Whether listening to music, reading the morning news, or writing to friends, a streamlined workspace makes spending time there all the more productive and enjoyable.
