As dog owners ourselves, we tend to do pretty much anything to make our beloved pet feel great. Depending on what breed you have, dogs can be quite expressive. Sure, they can't speak, but they can express what's going in their little minds. What would you say to a machine that could record and translate your dog's barks while you were away? More
OK, this product is definitely not designed for small space living, but if you have a big yard (or a big dog park where you take your pet) then you might be interested in this machine that launches tennis balls for your dog to chase- either using an automatic timer or a remote control if you want a more interactive experience... If you have a large yard and you want to make sure that your pets don't just scamper away, it's a good idea to use an electronic fence. It saves you from building a high fence and these types of technological fences work quite well. More
The BiOrb Life Aquarium is for the pet owner with discriminating taste in decor. Sporting an LED lighting system designed to mimic the actual schedule of real sunlight, an advanced 5-stage filtration system and an option of three colours with a minimal modern form, the BiOrb Life Aquarium is one of the nicest all-in-one aquariums we've seen. If you're lucky enough to live someplace where your dog can run free in the yard you more than likely worry about your dog getting out of his large, yet confined space. According to Positioning Animals Worldwide, 10 million pets went missing last year, and of those, only 1.8 million found their ways back home. A new gadget hopes to maximize that latter number.
We don't know what we did before automating our pet feeding schedules. For anyone who likes to travel or camp over the weekend and has pets, we all know worrying about getting home to feed Fido or Trixie can be stressful. But ever since we got ourselves a pet feeder and water fountain, we're free to cavort out to long weekend trips without much worry (we still have friends drop in to check on our cats if we're gone for more than 1 day). Automated water fountains are especially nice since many models now purify the water and also make the water more inviting with a cascading action. This Drinkwell 360 Pet Fountain is especially great for more multi-pet households, since it offers access on all sides, so no more bogarting the fountain... More
We've got a couple of feline stinkers who absolutely LOVE chasing around the spot created by a laser pointer. They get this funny crazed expression and move around like those old-timey movies with frames missing, punctuated by exclamation point tails and Keyboard Cat pawing. We highly recommend getting a $5 laser pointer to enjoy the same show with your cats. In related fashion, the FroliCat BOLT is an automated version that can keep your cat or dog entertained while you're away, or sitting back enjoying the shenanigans from a chair... More
Let us preface by saying we're a two cat household. We love our two felines, but as any cat owner knows, felines can be stubborn pains in the derriere once they've decided they're going to investigate something, continually push something of your desk/table...knock over a bowl and cover the kitchen sink drain and then brush up against the faucet handle and accidentally flood your whole kitchen while you're away (no lie!). So forgive us that we laughed a LOT after watching various videos of the Blender Defender, a DIY contraption built to scare cats from chewing/eating house plants using a motion detecting camera, a strobe light and a blender. A video of the Blender Defender in action below... More
It was almost a year ago when Sonia reviewed the much coveted holy grail of automatic kitty litter devices, the Litter-Robot. The reviews were mostly positive, but there was notable room for improvement. And it looks like the people over Litter-Robot listened, unveiling a version 2.0 upgrade that updates the robotic kitty litter device with more room and a better view (for you and the cat)... More
Oh my. As pet lovers here at unplggd we would definitely argue the latter, but French entrepreneur Romain Jerry would disagree. Rather than deal with the dirt and grime that comes with taking your dog outside with your own two hands, why not automate the entire process? I mean, it works for cars and clothes, why not your pet right? More
