Q: We are in the midst of renovating our family room and in the near future will have to make decisions regarding paint, flooring and furniture. I know for certain I want the wall colors to be a light grey and the ceilings to be white or some variation of white. Problem is, I don't know what color carpet or sofa to put in the room. My first instinct is a charcoal grey carpet, because my dog sheds like it's her job and the dark color will hide her black fur. More
Q: I got a kitten a few months ago who (like most kittens) likes to get into everything. I haven't gotten fresh flowers since I brought him home, partly because I don't want him knocking them over, but mostly because I'm concerned he'll try to eat them and get sick. But now that the weather is picking up here, I miss fresh flowers, and I'm not sure which ones to buy, or how to display them that he won't try to eat the petals. Do you have any suggestions? More

I came across this simple up-cycled suitcase project on the Covet Garden blog. By creating a custom cushion fitted to an existing vintage suitcase the blogger created a cute, compact bed for her furry friend. More

But we think aquariums are an excellent way not only to introduce an ecosystem to bring life into the home, but can also work as decor and ambient lighting... More

I remember when I first moved to Philadelphia, there was a man who walked his cat in Rittenhouse Square Park. I was amazed. (I tried this once with my cat when I was twelve, but not surprisingly, he refused to budge once on a leash.) The cat in the park was an altogether different story, though. He was enjoying his walk, and somehow, despite all of the pedestrians and dogs milling about, remained calm as a cucumber... More

A few years ago, Sarah Rae sent me a link to this, the most awesome dog photo ever, just for fun. I had to find an excuse to get it on Apartment Therapy, so I put together a post about staying warm at home and included the amazingly adorable portrait of Bean along with a link to the wonderful Etsy shop that sells the knitted goodies his owner makes... As the weather turns colder and the outside color palette tends toward hues of gray, brown, and, well…more gray, I find myself thinking of things that remind me of more tropical (and colorful!) destinations. I've always had a thing for fishtanks, but a pet store style aquarium doesn't always fit nicely into a room's decor.
