We're kind of like barracudas in that we're drawn to anything that sparkles. It's no wonder, then, why we're so interested in this table - under the glass top are 480 twinkling LEDs that respond to movement. Reach for your glass of wine, and the table comes to life with a trail of light following your hand. Bonus in that it runs off of only 35 watts of electricity when active. More
TRY THIS AT HOME. If you go to the MoMA to see anything right now, you'll have to walk over Jim Lambie's work. You can't avoid it. In the entryway up to the crazy flying fan in the Marron atrium, is a full on, pop color installation by Jim Lambie made out of vinyl tape. Tracking the outlines of the steps up to the next floor, the tape lines both emphasize the architecture and emphasize how much color the MoMA is lacking. Like a Turkish Rug or a Kilim, the color at once warms the space and dissolves into a fuzzy mass...
MoreGo beyond corkboard and pins. Here's a great tip that I found when I visited the super cool advertising firm upstairs in our building here on Crosby Street. Made of silicon rubber, the Uto Lamp from Lagranja Design is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Offering even more flexibility in how it is used, the long silicon "cord" makes it easy to hang, drape, wrap or coil. Though there is both a table and suspension version of this lamp, we have yet to distinguish the difference in the two options...
There are now more pictures of Konstantin Grcic's new cantilevered plastic chair, Myto . This was one of The New York Times' best ideas of 2007 for it's innovative use of materials and advanced plastics engineering. When I first posted this chair in December, it was very new and there were not many photos...

We know Polli for their earrings, more than the rack said earrings would hang on. But we were happy to learn that the nature-inspired jewelry stands often used in their store displays is available for purchase to adorn our own boudoir. More
Quest for Cool. In They’re Mad, They’re Bad, They Sell Accent Pieces, Garry Jensen and Elena Bertinetto show off their Manhattan loft. The couple recently launched Deeply Madly Living a site for flashy (and often expensive) home decor. In addition to their own love of industrial finishes and flea-market finds, they had the help of Workshop/apd and SHAdi + Company...
MoreEmbracing Energy-Efficiency. In the Plumen design prototypes from London-based Hulger, the necessary coils of a energy-efficient bulb are used as a sculptural element to create unique lighting. In addition to the numerous forms created by Hulger's designers, the longer-life of an energy-efficient flourescent bulb demands more attractive solutions for modern consumers. Via: Dezeen...
