The Nolitan Hotel is the first luxury boutique hotel located in NoLita (short for "North of Little Italy"), a thriving and favorite neighborhood in our new hometown, New York. We were recently invited to experience the newly opened design-centric hotel for ourselves, specifically to check out all the tech-related amenities that supposedly offer guests a wide variety of of work/play options at the press of a few buttons. Find out what a resident New Yorker/tech lover thinks about this newcomer to the popular (and frankly over-saturated) boutique hotels market popping up all around the city below... More
The dirty little secret about being a blogger for Apartment Therapy — or fill-in-the-blank with pretty much any contemporary profession — is that you don't have time to take care of a lot of the small details in your own home (or life for that matter). I know very few people with the spare time to stay ahead of their laundry, much less redecorate. For anyone who finds themselves in this situation, there are people you can pay to help you. More
We received a tip about a young eco-friendly cleaning service that works in New York City and The Hamptons — Blossom Cleaning Company started earlier this year and has a commitment to using non-toxic, chemical free products. In addition to regular scheduled maintenance cleaning, Blossom offers the following services: Detox/Spring Cleaning, Open House Cleaning, Office/Commercial Cleaning and Post-Construction Cleaning... As we search for the best moving companies in New York to add to our Stores Guide, we have to look harder and harder. This is our latest tip.
OZ Moving & Storage was started by Avi Oz in 1993 and is now a full service company with continuous good reviews from Citysearch and New York Magazine (4 stars)... More
Civilized help for light moves.
If you call Housing Works to have them pick up your furniture, there is a good chance they will send Frank Vogel and his partner. When I met him a few months ago, I asked him right away if he was for hire, and he said, sure! Specializing in light moving (small numbers of furniture that will fit in a van, and not a whole apartment) for 30 years, Frank calls ahead, shows up on time, and is gone in a flash. It is also nice to know that he has Housing Work's endorsement. More
Formerly known as "Nate's Transportation," Nate is still around and ramping up his business!
Having previously relied on word of mouth (and the written word, like our posts here), he's changed his name and is now getting a website together... More
Only a few movers get the thumbs up. We keep hearing about movers who are cheap, fast and honest, and do our best to weed out the truth from the merely enthusiastic. Truth be told, however, we rely on comments to provide the final word. Here is what WE know about Rabbit Movers... More
Adding to our list of recommended movers, Moishe's easily makes the list. One of the biggest companies in the city, with a much more corporate approach and an aim to be a "moving system" supplier, not just your average mover, Moishe's offers many specialized services, including a piano moving department and storage for interior designers who are wanting to temporarily clear out a client's apartment... Smooth operator.

We needed a few things from IKEA this week, but we were seriously short on time AND we didn't have a car. So we got on Craigslist and called a few of the IKEA pickup and delivery services that advertise there. We hooked up with Eric's IKEA Delivery Alternative and it was really easy and pleasant...
