- What I Love About My Small Home:
- My terrace! I fell in love with the apartment for many reasons, but this was the icing on the cake. It's rare to have an outdoor space in the city, and this space is almost as big as the studio itself! When I first viewed the apartment, the outdoor space was just a sloping rooftop. My landlord added the deck before I moved in as a surprise. He's the best! How many people in New York can say that they love their landlord?

- What I Love About My Small Home:
- What initially drew us to this apartment was the neighborhood—a great, swanky part of St. Paul filled with gorgeous old homes and within easy walking distance to lots of small businesses and restaurants. What sold us on the apartment was the kitchen. The kitchen is amazingly spacious for a smaller (and older) apartment. My fiance and I also love the details that come with older buildings: the hardwood floors and heavy moldings. They're a great base for our fairly eclectic style. Combining households was an interesting process (I'm all for color, he likes beige), but I think we managed to pull it together in a way that reflects both of our rather geeky personalities (he's a music nerd, I'm an all-around geek, and we both love art) and still be chic.

- What I Love About My Small Home:
- I love having my own tiny house all to myself. Though the space does not have walls to separate, I enjoy the distinct living areas I've created. One of the must-haves on my list was a lovely dining room for entertaining. I searched high and low for the perfect vintage pieces to fill it. My most beloved piece is the bar cart that I always make sure to keep fully stocked.

- What I Love About My Small Home:
- Apartment hunting in NYC is not easy. I kissed a lot of frogs before I finally found the one. I knew the minute I walked in the door that this little jewel box would be mine, even though it wasn't meant to be at the time. I fell in love with the pre-war charm, lots of windows, and northern city exposure that goes for miles. So I waited until the timing and price were right, and eventually fate intervened. What's most special about my apartment is the home I've created inside. Since I have a limited floor plan, I keep things fresh with an evolving mix of art, accessories, and statement pieces, like the vintage x-bench from my mother recently reupholstered in a John Robshaw fabric. All of my treasures have special meaning, particularly the trinkets from my grandmother and the large modern canvas painted by my uncle, an artist in Washington, D.C. But what I love most is that feeling I get when I walk in the door every evening. I'm always happy to be home.

- What I Love About My Small Home:
- First, I love the simplicity of living in a small space. Even though decorating a small space can be a challenge (mostly in regards to furniture size), I love that you can really focus on the pieces you buy since you don't need that much to furnish the entire apartment. Plus, cleaning my place takes about an hour total since it's so small! Who wants to spend the day cleaning when there are so many other fun things to do in this wonderful city!

- What I Love About My Small Home:
- Jenny used to live a few blocks away from here and we would often walk by our current place to drool over the building’s detailed brick façade and the front garden patio. It looked so cozy and charming: birds splashing in the bird bath, flowers blooming, palm fronds waving in the breeze. One day when we happened to walk by there was a wooden sign with gilt letters that read “One bedroom apartment to rent.” We knew it was fate!
The inside turned out to be just as charming as the outside, and we get to look out onto the front garden from windows in two rooms. Our apartment was built in the early 1900s so we love all of the original details like the walnut inlay floors, wood paneling, built-ins with beveled glass doors, crown moulding, and the Murphy bed in our living room, which is great for guests. The apartment has aged so gracefully that it feels as though one can live here for a very long time and be very happy.

- What I Love About My Small Home:
- I love how big it is. I moved to Denmark from NYC two years ago, and there's absolutely no way I could have afforded a space like this in Manhattan. I feel like a millionaire every time I walk into this apartment.

- What I Love About My Small Home:
- I mostly love that this is the first home that feels like my home. I have managed to put my own personal touch on most of the furniture and the decor is the most personalized of the 15+ homes I've had in my lifetime. I'm most proud of my gallery wall of all the places I have lived in my lifetime. I like my decor to be personal, so the gallery wall and most of the decor in the rest of the apartment has a personal meaning to me. I'm also proud of all the work I have done. I built my coffee table, end tables, and bench. I refinished my dresser and painted my kitchen table. I made the mirror over the sofa, the lampshades in the living room, all the shelves on the walls, the subway sign of all the places I've lived, and lots of the rest of the decor.

- What I Love About My Small Home:
- I love how I've been able to create separate distinct areas of sleeping, eating, and living within such a small space. I don't feel like I need any more space than I have. Every area serves a purpose, whether it be shelving on walls utilizing vertical space, or my lucite coffee table which serves a purpose, but also keeps the space visually open.
