Color Inspiration: The room was inspired by a children's book author/ illustrator Laura Ljungvist. She uses bold colors and accentuates the geometry of objects in a unique and graphically dynamic way. Her "Follow the Line" series of books are fantastic.

Color Inspiration: This room used to be the Master; we'd originally painted the red walls for us parents. When I set out to do an update on the room the girls begged me to keep the colour. (They are their mother's daughters.) I added in more colour and white where possible to keep it from being dark and overwhelming. The quilt on the bed was made by me, with contributions from an on-line quilt bee. It's a great focal point with my grandmother's embroidery above the bed. Ultimately, it is a bright room that for sleeping, playing, and creating. It also showcases family creativity in handmade treasures like the quilts and embroidery, but also my father's crochet and their own artwork.
Color Inspiration: Color inspiration for the room came in the form of a quilt, made for baby Betsy by her Great Aunt Betsy. As soon as Great Aunt Betsy gave us the quilt we knew it was a perfect inspiration piece. Betsy's quilt is beautifully made and filled with love, exactly the sentiment we want for her nursery! Betsy's room doesn't have any windows and can be quite dark, so the colors used in the quilt - red, blue, yellow, orange, pink & green - were good candidates to brighten things up and bring some little girl sweetness to an industrial-style loft space.
Color Inspiration: Forests and meadows and the natural world. Nearly everything in Ezra's room is animal and nature-themed (his mom is a veterinarian and a wildlife ecologist), and the green walls help bring a bit of the forest into what was otherwise a drab room. The orange accents also liven things up. We live in a quite old, small apartment, and simple things like adding a coat of bright paint on the walls, painting the ugly wall radiator, and adding some warm mood lighting really helps to freshen up the space.
Color Inspiration: The cover of my husband's childhood French copy of 'Tintin L'Ile Noire' by Herge and illustrated by Casterman. He has every copy and has handed them down to our first son and now soon to be our second.
Color Inspiration: While I was pregnant, I fell in love with all shades of turquoise, especially all the nurseries featured on Ohdeedoh with turquoise and yellow. Also found the awesome zoo animal, cheerful curtain from Target to cover Levi's closet. It set the stage for the rest of the room. Most of all, I adore bright colors!
Name: At home daycare (2-5 years) Location: Long Beach, CA
Color Inspiration: I saw a picture of a woodland themed nursery and I thought the green in it seemed so calming. I don't like primary colors on the walls or on furniture really. Because my room was going to be used as the daycare space, I wanted the space to feel calm and inviting. I think the green against neutral furniture does that.
Color Inspiration: My daughter's personality was my main inspiration, so the room is very "her". She is girly, but very spunky and playful with a quirky side. This room used to be a guest room and was stark white, so when we first started planning to move her into it from the nursery I was thinking of doing a woodland theme with mostly greens and blues. But she kept saying she wanted pink! We ended up doing both pink and yellow. The rest of the room evolved through mostly craigslist and thrifting. I love vintage objects, but try to find a balance with things she and her friends like also. She has a penchant for unicorns and other imaginative creatures so we ended up with the fairy tale duvet (ebay score!) and lots of fanciful toy, but still manage to avoid the overtly princess look.
Color Inspiration: I was dreaming of a gray, red, white, and black color scheme for my first nursery design, but stumbled across a picture on Ikea's website of a living room with bright green walls and everything else in black and white and fell in love!
Name: Colton (20 months)
Location: Port Moody, Canada
Color Inspiration: The color palette all started with the big orange vinyl sticker giraffe and the blue birds and from there I picked the crib bedding. The bed skirt was the starting point for the striped wall and it lead to all the accent colors in the room.
