Color Inspiration: For some reason, I was certain our second was a girl and I allowed myself to think very GIRL about the room. When we learned Charlie was a boy, I was stumped and didn't know where to start. I came across an inspiration board I had torn out of an old issue of Living Etc. with really fun red, yellow and navy blue and I just loved it. Didn't know where to start though until I found the curtain fabric at IKEA and everything fell into place from there.

Color Inspiration: I wanted colors that weren't traditionally "baby" so that the room could grow with our little guy. I loved the idea of a calming, neutral gray wall with bright pops of yellow. My inspiration for the exact color mix of gray, yellow and green came from Graham's Fabric Fabulous Nursery on Ohdeedoh.

Color Inspiration: I wanted something that could be gender neutral first of all and no traditional baby pastels. This is our first house and the first room we painted so we were a little intimidated but we wanted a fun vibrant space for our baby. I knew it had to be somewhere I would want to spend a lot of time as well and it definitely turned out to be my favorite room in the house!

Color Inspiration: The color inspiration for Frances' room started with the rug which I fell in love with. Her room is a small space, only 7' x 9', so after painting the knotty pine paneling a neutral color we decided to bring in pops of color through accessories, textiles and toys while keeping the furniture light & bright so as not to make the space feel any smaller. Our other inspiration was our daughter who will be coming home from China next month, after spending the first 3.5 years of her life in an orphanage, we wanted to create a space for her that would be bright, cheerful and reflect our fun and colorful lifestyle.

Color Inspiration: I wanted a fun space in our new home for our only child. It needed to be girly, but not so girly that if she decided she doesn't want to be a girly-girl when she is older, the color would still work well. The room is accented with bright pink, including a dresser and child's rocking chair that we painted.

Color Inspiration: I wanted a color that could create a space that is relaxing and soothing, but I didn't want to settle for a pale color. I wanted a bold color that had a bit of saturation to it. While selecting the color we didn't know the gender of our child, so I chose a teal color that could work for a boy or a girl by changing the accent colors throughout the room. The blue/green color is soothing without being boring and creates the perfect sleep environment at night.

Color Inspiration: We bought our apartment from a woman who has a cosmetic line for women with darker complexions/African American skin. I felt like she used the most beautiful, rich jewel-tones (similar to her eye shadows) in many of the rooms in our apartment. Due to our limited $$ after buying our place and due to liking most of the colors, we chose to keep the existing periwinkle blue that was already in the kids' room. There had been a little girl living in there before us, and I felt like I had to somehow tie the color in to all of our already existing 'stuff' without losing its 'gender neutral-ness' that we liked so much.

Color Inspiration: When I found out that I was having another boy I just knew I had to find a way to incorporate my favorite color navy into the room. I started with the accent wall and things really took off from there. I love mixing patterns in neutral tones, like the brown and navy, and then using the accents to really brighten up the room. The yellow stripes are my absolute favorite part of the room, and were a last minute addition after falling in love with a print that used this scheme.
