If the City of Los Angeles had a gift shop, I'm willing to bet you'd find these items depicting the sunny city there. So consider this your virtual LA gift shop: a bit of decor and accessories for residents or wannabes.
Mmmmm. California. I've been lucky enough to go twice this year and I still can't shake the laid back, modern feel that state has going on. They do it all so well, from pared-down desert minimalism to outdoor Redwood rustic to beachy casual. Get the look of the Golden State with these seven pieces from Etsy.
I'm working on my own workspace for this August's Style Cure, so I'm all about desks, task chairs and - of course - decor. Although my style couldn't be more different than this one, I love its shimmery, pretty quality. And I certainly wouldn't kick it out of bed if it showed up late one night with a bottle of champagne and chocolate. (Just kidding. I can be had for Project Runway reruns and a summer roll.)
It's that time of year again, when hopeful young students start back to school, and hopeful young freshmen start planning how to decorate their dorm room on a budget. Apartment Therapy is here to help, with our annual roundups of dorm style inspiration. First up: a patriotic room with a vintage feel.
Maybe some bright colors will counteract the gloomy feeling of the next school year looming. These workspace pieces are modern and fun: all of them together might be a bit much, but perhaps something stands out to you that would be the perfect spirit-lifter for your kid's workspace.

I don't usually shop for a lot of home decor in stores. I'm more of a Craigslist, eBay, and thrifting girl. The one exception is when I travel, when I'll admit to doing my fair share. I went to Morocco this past winter, and was lucky to find some things I really love. If you are headed there in the near future, and want a sense of what to expect, here's a snapshot of some items and final prices (after much bargaining of course).
Many moons ago I threw a friend a going away party. She and her husband were headed on a year-long trip around the world, and I wanted to wish them well on their journey. For the occasion, I dressed up like an airline attendant, handed out cocktail nuts to the guests, and served mini airline-sized drinks on a tray. I might have even done a safety demonstration. Embarrassing but true.
No place is more famous for glassmaking than Murano. The Venetian island, home to glass artisans since the thirteenth century, is synonymous with quality that demands a premium price tag. Inspired by this beautiful Murano glass light fixture, here's a complete Classic Glam living room featuring a similar chandelier:
