Designer Taylor Donsker found inspiration in architectural drafting lamp, designing his Cantilevered Floor Lamp for adjustability while shining an array of bright white LED lights for reading or desk use. The pivoting arm makes adjusting the angle easy, capable of 180 degree rotation with just an easy push up or downward. More
Is your office desk space getting a little tight? It's time to move all the non-essentuials out of the way. First use the breadbox test to eliminate clutter. Then, if you still need a little more elbow room, try moving your table lamp to the wall. Really! More

Of all the items on my desk, the one that can make the biggest impact on how well I work, and even my overall mood for the day, is my desk lamp. Oddly, for something so important, it's often not the first, or even the second thing, I think about when I plan a workspace redo. With a plan to rework my workspace currently in action, I've trolled through the Apartment Therapy archives and some of my favourite sources to find fantastic lighting fixtures that I'd be thrilled to look at all day. Lim C Table Lamp by Pablo Pardo for Pablo
• $250.00
• Design Within Reach
Since converting our dining table into a secondary desk I've been on the hunt for a task lamp with two features in mind: LED lighting for warm-white illumination and a minimal visual presence. There's a bevy of task and table lamps available, but Pablo Pardo's design is the first I've happened upon which seems to be capable of being "there" when turned off, while disappearing into the background while turned off. Rated for 50,000 hours of use and 85% more efficient than incandescent lamps, the Lim C is also available as a floor and variable height version, but I've got my eyes set on this ultra-slim magnetic mount model.

Lou of handmade designs blog, Happy Serendipity, shares a startlingly simple DIY project for anyone looking to add both some overhead lighting and a personalized streak of color into their home office environment using a common lamp cord (IKEA?), some neon yarn, and a painted wall hook. Besides transitioning to online sales, there's a good chance OfficeDesigns hasn't changed all too much since I joined their mailing list way back in college while working at the University advertising department. More than 15 years after graduating I'm still receiving their catalogs for task chair, lighting, and office storage solutions (it's funny to see "UC Davis Advertising" printed on the mailing address).
