Whew, it's over! Unlike the days in the thick of The January Cure, the final day of it went quietly, over brunch with my big sis. With my son's birthday party falling right in the middle of the Cure, I was done with large celebrations and ready for nothing more than to sit down over a lovingly prepared meal for relaxation and conversation with one close companion:
What a journey the January Cure has been! With a handful of friends, some of whom hadn't been over in quite a long time, I toasted to the end of a productive month, and to the beginning of a year of transformations.
Day 23: Friday, February 1 Assignment: Enjoy your first weekend in your "Cured" home
Ta-da! A round of applause! You made it. I know its been a busy month - I think we collectively gave the word "homework" a whole new meaning this January. But, for now, it's time to put away the vacuum, give the outbox the side eye and just relax and enjoy your successes. It's time to celebrate.
The January Cure has made some big changes in our apartment, and in yours too I'm sure. But for me, this week wasn't about big things. For me, week 4 was about giving attention to those little things that sometimes get left behind.
I've finally started to recover from my cold, so last week was the week we tried to make up for lost time. In addition to the daily assignments, we finished the kitchen and started on the basement. We also did our media fast Friday night, went through all of our videos and DVDs, and completed the rest of the bedroom. Whew! As for the assigned tasks…
I really enjoyed the living room cleaning (okay, not the cleaning, but the results) this weekend. It's the room where we relax, where my son plays, and where we even eat a couple of meals a week. It feels good to have it all in order. I know it won't last long, but the bones are set so it will just take minor pick-ups to get it back in tip-top shape for entertaining:
Day 22: Thursday, January 31 Assignment: Pick up the things you need for your get-together this weekend
It's the last mile of your January Cure journey. All you have left to do is gather the goodies you want to have on hand for your guests this weekend. A little food, drinks, sweets, music, flowers - and you're all set.
It's the home stretch of the January Cure, and I am looking forward to seeing how everything comes together at the end. This week was all about paying attention to the oft-overlooked details that can make all the difference in making a space look great and function properly.
I feel like I hit my stride last week. This time around, I didn't follow directions as closely, but I didn't slack off. With a push from the January Cure, I completed some more painting, organizing, and cleaning.
