No man is an island, or so said John Donne. But if the photo above is any indication, designer Werner Aissllinger might diagree. Meet Bikini Island, his collection of furniture for Italian brand Moroso, which debuted in Milan this past month. At first glance it looks like a hodgepodge of connected or overlapping parts, or what happens when you paint the walls and push all of your furniture to the center of the room. 

Talented designers (they did this amazing room at Adamsleigh) and all-around lovely gentlemen Jason Oliver Nixon and John Loecke launched their brand new collection of Madcap Cottage pillows at the Spring Market. We spotted this quirky character-filled example at CR Laine.

Super fun vintage bathing suit wall art spotted at the CR Laine showroom - the graphic black and white look is the perfect counterpoint to their uber-colorful upholstered pieces.

Classic combinations like navy and white can feel totally fresh when you mix, match and layer patterns. In this example from the Thibaut showroom, a small scale geometric upholstery plays off a big, bold large scale wallpaper while the solid pillow with light piping grounds the whole look..

Teal velvet upholstery + red lacquer table = great color & texture pairing at CR Laine. Add in the navy and white patterned chair and prints and you've got a very controlled yet "wow" palette. 

We saw wing chairs everywhere at Market - they are definitely back in a big way. This one features the just-announced partnership between John Robshaw and Cisco - a strong pairing of pattern and construction.

Given pride of place at the start of Thibaut's showroom, this brand new pattern called Sulu (available in both wallpaper and fabric in the Montery collection) sings in this just a little bit unexpected version of the classic red, yellow and blue primary color combo. 

In addition to the all the sofas and chairs we road-tested while at Market, we gave a few mattresses a try. At Simmons we tried out four lines and their "Black" series is top of the line. They are blinged out, not crazy expensive and comfy.

Walking through the extremely large New York International Gift Fair there were so many items that stood out and, to be honest, narrowing it down to 10 favorites was a pretty herculean task.
