We're heading to the beach with a baby in tow for the first time this summer, and I've been racking my brain trying to make sure that I am as prepared as humanly possible. While I realize that it probably won't be the relaxing book-reading/napping/water-lapping-at-my-toes-type experience that I've had in the past, I also hope that it won't be a complete and utter disaster. Here's what I've come up with so far:
Did you take our advice and explore your neighborhood this weekend? We want to hear about it — and see it! We know you're the expert in what's cool and fun in your 'hood, and we think you should share it with other Apartment Therapy readers in case they're looking to take a trip to your neck of the woods in the future!
Today's trip-sparking inspiration assignment won't take a lot of energy — in fact it'll be about spending as little energy as possible! Today, we encourage you to find a place that can be a restful spot for lounging and recharging. Smaller than a staycation, this exploring idea is perfect when you don't have a lot of time but still want to fit in some relaxing.
Whether you've lived in your neighborhood for years or have recently made the move, we bet there's something you've never noticed before. Home is not just the few rooms you pay for and occupy — it spills out of your front door and stretches into the streets and businesses that surround your address. This weekend, with these tips, get up, out and explore your 'hood.
You know those fleeting moments in life when you're completely in the present and feel alive? Exploring your surroundings (however near or far) — is a secret passage to moments that reinvigorate your creative spirit. You don't have to have a lot of money, time or even go very far. Just step out your front door with these essential elements for adventure (which is everywhere if you look hard enough).
Do you have any articles of clothing around your house — hidden away in the back of a closet or the bottom of a drawer — that seemed like a great idea when purchasing but once you got home realized it'd never see light again? That's what happened to Taylor and a pullover sweater he bought in Mexico. As soon as he got back home and realized it wasn't quite his style, he stuffed this sweater in the bottom of a drawer and didn't think about it for years. Until he realized he could upcycle it into a simple but sharp home accessory.
Have you ever been on a road trip? We recently took to the open road, navigating from Seattle, Washington to Southern California. It was definitely a big undertaking, but after the four-day drive was over, we found ourselves surprised at how easy it was. Here are a few tips we learned along the way that might make your next road trip just as enjoyable.
