Anyone who's getting into DLSR photography knows that it is not an inexpensive hobby. It's tough to buy everything you need right away, so amateur snappers like myself are stuck collecting all of the pieces as we go, making-do with in-a-pinch solutions. More
My family just returned from a wonderful vacation in Cape Cod, specifically the town of Wellfleet. Perfect weather and a great location added up to a week full of treasured memories. We stayed in a tiny cottage across from the harbor, just a few rooms with a kitchen. But when you spend most of the time outside, the tightness of the quarters doesn't matter that much. That is, until you bring your sunscreen-covered, sand-encrusted toddler home and realize there is no tub, just a narrow shower. And your toddler hates the shower. Hmm, this should be interesting. I'll admit, when I came across this first image, I thought the designer was being ironic. A Quality Inn? There's no way this could be a Quality Inn. Yet, I was intrigued, and determined to get to the bottom of the sign in question — ironic or not? More
With our summer vacations behind us, it's the perfect time to start planning for a fall getaway and Wes Anderson's latest flick has me jonesing for a sleeping bag adventure! I have a crush on Louisville. I visited this charming city a few months ago and was completely taken with its historic atmosphere, creative spirit, and genteel hospitality (I'm not gonna lie, I really like being called "sweetie"). Louisville is famously home to the Kentucky Derby, but there is so much more to be discovered, from a vibrant art scene to fabulous dining to architectural gems. I highly recommend a visit. More
Name: Lux Berlin Guest Home

The home: a desolate ruin of an apartment from DDR-times (former Socialist Germany) turned into cool, urban guest home -with a lot of personal work and on a tight budget- in a house built in 1900. More
The woman at the pool was my parental doppelgänger; we both had four-year-old singletons and two-year-old twins. Our accommodations were managed by the same company and shared grounds, only I was staying at the family-friendly water park lodge and she was staying at the luxury resort down the road. More
It is tough to admit that summer is winding down, but the school calendar does not lie. Some of us, however, are clinging to summer tooth and nail and still have a road trip or two left in us. If your travels include a kid in the backseat, and you are handy with the needle and thread, here is a project you may want to tackle before the rubber hits the road. More
On a recent rainy day, I caught myself absentmindedly engaging in one of my favorite pastimes of perusing Airbnb listings not for places to stay on my next vacation, but for inspiration from exotic dream houses I might could live in one day. And possibly even ideas for the home I live in now! More
