Maker Talks started as live-event discussions and presentations with leading voices from the design and food communities and have become a huge part of Apartment Therapy's event presence in NYC. As we grow and evolve, so has our community of readers. We felt it is important to share the essence of our NYC events to our worldwide community, highlighting individuals who embody an entrepreneurial spirit in a video visit with Maxwell bringing us right to the heart of each Maker's creating space.
Our inaugural episode features Farrah Sit, a ceramicist and furniture maker. Farrah embodies everything that we feel a Maker is: understanding a sense of self, formulating innovation and creating a product or service that he/she strongly believes in.
We are excited for this new series of videos and cannot wait to explore this world further with you.
In this week's episode, Karis and Maxwell go on a speed shopping adventure to the one and only IKEA. They have 70 minutes to pick cabinets, counters, pulls, and fixtures. Think they can get it done? One thing we know: any trip to IKEA is better with a plan.
Our new book, Complete + Happy Home, is finally on shelves! Is your copy still out there waiting for you? This book deserves to go to a happy home.Get your copy today and learn how to make your home complete!
In this week's episode, Karis and Ashley employ blindfolds to introduce the new space to some of the Apartment Therapy Media employees. It's all coming together... slowly. Next week we hope to start showing you some of the amazing details in the works, like the drop down movie screen the previous tenant left and the little phone rooms where you can sneak away to make important phone calls... This one is also shot by the super talented Alex Merkin.
Have you been keeping up with our big office reno? A lot is going down on the 13th floor: lights, internet, kitchen cabinets, radiator covers, and... PAINT! The super-talented Alex Merkin shot office BFFs Karis and Ashley as they zoomed around our new office. Don't you want to work with us in our super-cool, brand-new space??? (BTW our family's growing - aka we're hiring - so consider this your formal invite...)
Akhira is beautiful and brilliant and welcoming and warm, and her apartment is no different. With only 288 square feet and a modest budget, she's created a space so stylish and functional that when you see the photos, you may want to move in immediately.
