CB2 is opening a new store in Downtown Toronto in a building with an infamous past - the shop will settle in to the former location of The Big Bop. The opening date has not been announced but construction will begin soon.

Shaw's Original Fir...
Hey I live across the street. That's excting.
It makes sense. There are tons of great lighting and furniture stores close to Queen and Bathhurst. It's a great walk in the summer.

:O
I'll be waiting with bated breath.
Although I haven't been inside the Bop in ... oh ... fifteen years ... if the interior is anything like it was before, would it be interesting to keep the same layout? Musing aloud ...
So who hung out on the rocker floor and who hung out on the dance music floor?
When is AT:Toronto coming?
I mean, Boston gets an AT blog, but Toronto's still waiting? The size of the condo/apartment market in T.O. must be five that of Boston. Even surpassing Chicago for some time now.
Ooh, exciting! I can't wait to see the stuff in person that I've been eyeing up online for ages.
going for a celebratory drink right now :)
Yay!
Oh why can't we have a CB2 and Crate and Barrel in London?
I guess it gives me another reason to cross the pond. Not that I need much persuasion :-)
Huzzah! And yes, let's get the AT: Toronto going asap people!
Wheeee! So excited right now!
I haven't been to the Reverb in forever. I didn't know it was gone! I'll be excited to see what they do to it. I'll be shopping there when it opens!
I'm dying for AT: Toronto tooooooo...!
AT: T.O. !

i live in toronto and have been semi-involved in the underground and indie music scene there. i'm frankly quite disappointed and even somewhat disgusted by the yuppie-fication that has happened to the queen west area over the last 10 years.
gentrification is going to put in mcD's and big-box furniture chain stores everywhere.
i am very sad to see the big bop close. it was the starting point of many an illustrious band career (and probably of many not-so-illustrious).
i like the idea of a CB2 but i hate seeing my city turned into carbon-copy american-chain-owned overpriced-condoville.
:(
There's already a McD's across the street. Been there for at least 5 years, non? :-)
I just came home from a trip to Toronto! (I live in Milwaukee.) I loved walking around the city and I know where this is! What a great place. Four days was not long enough to be there.
woot, woot!... AT Toronto!
If you shop around you can find many ethnic furniture stores - not that well known, but carrying quite often very unique designs. Stuff that doesn't get featured in Home&Garden, but for example in local, European media.
For example http://www.smartfurniture.org is a one of few furniture stores in GTA that focuses on furniture from Poland.
I'm with monkeylizard on this one. I preferred the Big Bop (I guess the Big Flop?).
