One of our favorite things to do is to take a mass produced item and make it more personal, by modifying it in some way. Here's how we did that to this CB2 table which is stocked with a glass tabletop...
We found this secondhand marble laminate tabletop at Eddie's Furniture in Somerville for $60 and loved the subtle variety in color and pattern. We also thought that the table was a little too high as is so we cut down the legs by three inches. which made it a better match for the low Danish vintage chairs that we scored at the Massachusetts Antiques Cooperative in Waltham. (Don't fret - we'll find another use for the glass top that came with the Teepee table!)

Nice job, but personally I'm not fan of travertine tiles, they always feel too "late 70s" for me.

Nice! We did something similar with an old Noguchi cyclone table base we found at a thrift store, topping it with the same Formica (VirrVarr white) we used on some of our countertops.
Love it! The top isn't my taste per se, but I love how you modify it, and the whole place looks so cozy.

fyi, i'm fresh off just seeing your post from 04.10.08, during which the image above popped into my mind.. 'hey!..that's the paint and curtain i've been coveting!...'). i saw you dished on paint in the other post (not sure my cottage rcvs enough sunlight..) howEver..
Q's: 1) would you be kind enough to share where you p'd up the patterned curtains?; 2) sooo.. have you posted yet on how you transformed/rearranged what's behind curtain #2 (the biege one)??..

gosh, those chairs... LUCKY
Beware of the glass top that came with the table! It's made of nontempered glass, which is extremely dangerous. Seriously, those things kill kids every year and can even sever your arteries if you're an adult. You should use only tempered or safety glass for tabletops.

In any case, yet another good reason to replace the original table topper!
