As sister companies, CB2 and Crate & Barrel often have similar aesthetics — one's meant to be a little younger, hipper, and cheaper than the other, but they're both modern and affordable. While C&B's holiday catalog dwarfs CB2's, they each have a retro "glam and glitzy" feel this year.
C&B's is more colorful and there are some great new pink, red, and purple pieces from Marimekko, while CB2 seems to be sticking with a mostly White Christmas theme, which is a little disappointing. Some of the textiles and tabletop in the Crate and Barrel catalog seem new and refreshing, but CB2's mirrored garlands, disco ball ornaments, and glass candlesticks are a bit of a yawn-fest.
Which do you prefer for the holidays? Are you a fan of clean and classic white, or are you into colorful decorations?

I'm eyeing that Fandango tablecloth - I just love the colors...
...I'd bet that a few of those would make an AMAZING set of curtains - and a set of the napkins could be sewn up into some great matching pillows.
I just bought up a bunch of glitter-covered snowflake and star ornaments to make a display on my mantel very similar to the one they use here as a centerpiece. I guess for once I am feeling a trend.
Pier One Imports is also all over the glittery stuff this year.
love it all...so much fun!
I'm fond of peacock colors: metallic turquoise, bronze, lime green, with liberal amounts of gold and silver and mirror and glitter! (But I have ornaments of every color, so these just predominate the rainbow.)
I personally think the bright colors and neons are on their way out. I can only take so much lime green, orange, turquoise, and purple. While they make a big decorating statement , they can also turn stale and cliche pretty quickly. I think white and neutrals are gonna make a big comeback real soon.
For those who can't afford even CB2 stuff (because this seems to be AT's definition of "affordable"), Walmart has cute 12" trees in silver, white, blue, purple, pink, etc. prelit with matching decorations. The most expensive thing is the tree for $8.
Give me glitter! Crate & Barrel has my vote, and maybe my dollars. Clean, colorful, shiny. What more could you want?
