Q: We are a very unmusical couple who have just had our first baby, and are astonished at the huge role the music clearly plays in baby care. A small collection of CDs is forming. It seems like it would be a nice idea to ditch the boxes and hang half a dozen of so in a display case on the nursery wall to keep them tidy and as the baby gets older, share the choosing of music. I can’t find any holder of this sort, perhaps because hanging up a mere six CDs isn’t much of a storage solution, or I may be looking in the wrong places. Any ideas, even for something I could cut apart to come up with what I have in mind?

Editor: Unplggd is a great place to start looking for cd storage solutions. We found this one pictured here which works well for a small number of cds. You can assume you're going to acquire even more music for your child in the coming years so you may consider nixing cds altogether in lieu of digital music or at least ditching the cd holders and putting the cds in a binder on a shelf. Readers, what do you think?

Get an ipod. No storage boxes required! And your baby will very quickly be able to tell you what songs / albums she likes!
We did the same. Put them all on the ipod/computer. Then we donated the cd's to the library. The kids loved listening to their songs on the go in the car, etc.
I wouldn't throw away the covers at all. If you've only got six then just stack them neatly in a drawer or a shelf.
I've already told DH we'll be buying baby an iPod when it arrives. Nothing expensive, but just something to keep in the room with his/her music on it. A simple 8g could be bought used on ebay or craigslist as far as price goes.

We use a Case Logic album for all of our DVDs and CDs. They hold quite a bit and E can't get them out to play with. They also look good in our living room and no one suspects we have a ton of media hidden in them.

We also have gone through our CD colleciton and got rid of CDs we no longer like. For the ones we only like a few songs on, they go straight to the ipod. Full albums we enjoy are keepers.
Hope this helps!
