We like to think outside of the box, and when we came across this image of ornate ceiling medallions serving as wall art, we were instantly intrigued by the statement.
Because the pieces are lightweight and inexpensive, a cluster of them on a wall is a great way to add texture to a large blank space without spending a fortune. Each medallion in the above example is different, so to unite the styles happening here, coordinating shades of pale yellow were applied to the plastic surfaces. The wall color provides some contrast, but drastically different paints could be chosen for a room that needs more punch. If you find a medallion with a hole in the center, which is how many of them come, you could easily insert a piece of mirror for an even more glamorous arrangement.

I love it. I also love the colors. Some may be tired of the gray yellow white color scheme, but it's so subtle and calming.
LOVE this room. Would love to know the source for everything (medallions, pillow, basket, picture, couch, etc.) Thanks so much.
Great idea with the ceiling medallions. They can be purchased at any home store and easy to paint. Nice room for low dollars!

What a wonderful idea! It adds a perfect touch of traditional in a contemporary way! The idea of adding a mirror to some, would be perfect to reflect light!
What kind of paint was used and how much?
Quick question: how would you mount these on the wall?
LOVE it.
Great idea!
Wow. I just checked homedepot.com and the ones they had, at least, were NOT inexpensive. One medallion can easily run $50.
@Pi: I know that Hobby Lobby, Joann, & Michael's often have inexpensive medallions in the store that aren't listed online. But if you want to find a wide selection available online, I just did a google search and came up with this:

This picture made me think that it could be fun to do something like this on a ceiling too. This type of arrangement or an ordered pattern of several of the same medallion.
love it.. looks great.
Great idea!
I absolutely LOVE this idea; However, most of the medallions I've found have holes in them! I like the idea of putting a mirror in some of the holes, but I don't want to have them all hole-y.
Hmmm... I would get sick of this pretty quickly.
What a great idea! Definitely going to look at Michaels, Home Depot, etc. for inexpensive options to fill all the blank wall space I currently have going on.
Hey! I am a painter!
I rather object to people squawking about objets d'art as if they are so valueless that they should be tacked on as a freebie.
Try to make something beautiful yourself and see how long it takes. It is not as easy as it looks to come up with something that is original, pleasing and not amateurish.
This idea is reasonable and attractive and you could polychrome it.
this is why i read apartment therapy...great idea !!!
This same sort of idea was featured on the cover of Canadian House & Home.
Look at this!
